Little has been done to dress up this database-driven application for managing coin collections, which would be fine if it proved itself with a stellar performance. But Coin Collector Professional's drab interface is coupled with some spotty functionality.
If you've ever worked with a database, you'll have no trouble entering coin information. You can track all the usual details, including country of origin, date, mint mark, and other data. You can easily add, update, and delete entries, but the option to import images is disabled during the trial. Coin Collector Professional seems to have all the bases covered in terms of the information it tracks, but it falls short in executing some simple tasks--like search. In testing, there were rarely any results returned with the search tool, even with words known to be contained in a record. There also appeared to be some problems with the sorting option and it didn't always accurately display entries in the selected order.
Unlike most database programs, Coin Collector Professional can't create or print reports. A 10-record trial restriction is supposed to be in place, but we were able to add more than 10 entries during our assessment. The bottom line? There are too many glitches and too few features found in this program for us to recommend it.
