From SoftByte Labs :CloneMaster will clean your hard drive of duplicate files. It searches for TRUE duplicate files (byte for byte). It does not find duplicates by filename, date, size or CRC. Version: CloneMaster 3.13
Pros: Scans fast enough, with simple interface that allows scanning files on another PC over a home network.
Cons: As it's scanning, it shows it's progress, including a running tally of how many duplicate files found. Once scanning is done, however, it reports that none were found. And I know for a fact there were several duplicates. I wanted to weed them out, but this ain't the program to do it.

Version: CloneMaster 3.13
"Failed to find intentionally duplicated file!"
Pros: Doesn't require MS .net. Works (?) on Win98.
Cons: It did not work for me. I intentionally created a duplicate file and it reported no duplicates found.

I have apx 10k digital photos. About a third are dupes because the camera starts to renumber on battery change, and I don't delete from memory stick every time I copy to PC. So, lots of dupes in lots of directories. I knew it had to be wrong when it first said no duplicates found. Tried it on both the Laptop (Win98) and Desktop (XP Home.) Because I renamed some photo extensions to *.jpeg, it was set to compare all files regardless of extension.
