True to its name, Child Control gives you a number of creative ways to control your kids' use of the computer.
For instance, it lets you restrict access to games or other applications to a certain amount of time per day, or you can set the PC to automatically shut down after a certain hour. If you're concerned about your child's Web-surfing activities, you can block sites that contain blacklisted words. Monitoring PC usage in your absence won't be a problem, as Child Control can send reports via e-mail. With special temporary-access codes, you can even extend usage time while you're away.
The application is decently protected against youthful computer prodigies; although kids will be able to see the utility via the Start menu, they must have the master password to disable it. For added protection, Child Control can disable the Task Manager along with other Windows system functions. Perhaps even more important, the interface is clean and won't confuse most parents.
All told, Child Control makes a nice pick for parents who want to keep an eye on their youngsters' doings on the computer.

Version: Child Control 2006 8.445
Pros: Looked good at first.
Cons: I installed the 30 day trial to have more control over the amount of time my kids were spending on online games. The program looked good at first, although the timer settings were a little complicated. The problems hit the next day.
My son told me he was having trouble with the PC, and naturally i thought the software was just doing its job. I was wrong, this program had virtually imploded and left me with no task bar, start button or running anything from the desktop i could not access the program either. I could open some desktop folders and in desperation i managed to navigate to the control panel where i managed to uninstall the software. It uninstalled but left my PC locked up. As a last resort i turned to system restore only to find the program had DISABLED SYSTEM RESTORE without my knowlege. I tried then to repair windows using my XP disc which then showed a FATAL ERROR half way thru install. Thus my PC was from that moment on useless. I have yesterday had to format my drive, losing all my data in the process thanks to this bug riddled program. Please do your homework before using third party trash like this. Any program which can infiltrate your hard drive so deep it switches off system restore without notifying you is a huge risk. Avoid this one like the plague if you value your PC.
