CNET Editors' review
Cannon Challenge is one of the better free games on the iPhone, with slick graphics and sound effects, fun (if easy) gameplay, and clever integration of the iPhone's touchscreen and vibration. Reminiscent of many old-school artillery games, Cannon Challenge gives you a number of distant targets that you must fire on indirectly, adjusting velocity and elevation to calculate a lethal trajectory--in this case, using on-screen touch "dials." You get 15 shots to demolish your targets in each of the game's 15 levels, but as more (and more difficult) targets appear, you have fewer chances to experiment as you zero in for the kill. The launch version of the game still appeared to have some bugs for some users (especially failing to launch), but a phone restart seems to clear up most problems. The two most serious drawbacks to this relatively short game are the lack of replay value (through much of the game, you only even have to adjust velocity to hit your targets) and the fact that games aren't saved when you interrupt them--so you better hope you don't get an important phone call on level 14.Publisher's Description
From Discovery Interactive Communications:
Take charge of your own Non-Line-of-Site (NLOS) Cannon, the revolutionary gun that represents the future of U.S. Field Artillery.Use simulated elevation and velocity controls to destroy enemy targets with indirect fire.
As rounds are completed, the number of targets will increase, as well as the difficulty and point value of new targets. Some targets will eventually require precise targeting to hit.
