This database-driven program organizes and saves whole or partial Web pages in a snap, but its results were hit and miss.
Canaware NetNotes' interface has a dual-paned window with a tree directory on the left and a viewing window on the right. The toolbar is packed with buttons, but tooltips reduce the learning curve and the Help file is extensive. Operation couldn't be easier. Simply set up a folder or folders, and then surf as you would. You can highlight a section or the just right-click on the page while surfing and Canaware NetNotes opens with the page or snippet shown in the viewing window. Article name, address, and keyword fields are included so you can organize your Web information in the tree directory. There's also a search tool to find an article or keywords in a saved page. The links in a page are accessible through the program and open the URL in your default browser window. While the program worked fine for the most part, our testers reported that it didn't accurately save whole pages from some sites. Snippets from the faulty pages were saved without problem.
Despite the occasional glitch, Canaware NetNotes is an inexpensive option for saving Web data offline, and it can be used by any level of user.
