I tried Camtasia to capture a presentations that had both video and timed PowerPoint slides played via Real Player. Camtasia garbed the slides but not the video.
Summary
It disappointed me. I had head so much about it but it failed at the basic task of capturing the video.

I downloaded the demo of this application expecting to make some web development tutorials that my friend wanted me to make. He said I should try out Camtasia, so I went to their website, and downloaded the 30-day free trial. The download was predicted to take 2 minutes, so I starting getting ready to record. After the download, naturally I installed it. After the installation, I was greeted by the welcome screen, so far so good, so I selected the option I wished to use which was screen capture. So now I have the little popup in the bottom right corner of my screen. I will only be using part of my screen for coding, so I selected custom resolution. I got a screen overlay and selected the area I want, well after that, the overlay wouldn't close. I tired task manager to no avail, I tired Alt Tabbing, Alt+F4, WinKey+R, then finally WinKey+L managed to get me out of it, and then I logged back into my user account. Very troublesome... I forgave it for that, then continued on, I decided to keep it at full screen, and was going to start a practice run to see how it'll record. I press record, and to my surprise, an overlay with 2 little error boxes at the bottom right corner, searched their Knowledge base for a solution, no results. Searched google as well, and no useful results were retruned. After this and being frustrated with it, I uninstalled it and I'm off to install Cam Studio. Hopefully this one will work.
