With five applications bundled into one, Camtasia Studio truly is a fully fledged screen recording studio. The features and options menus are extensive enough to make a newbie's head swim, but the bevy of tips, video tutorials, and preset options help anchor and guide novice users through the process of creating screencasts from start to finish.
The feature capabilities for capturing the PC screen and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations include recording the screen with or without audio and a Web camera, cursor highlighting and sounds, and capturing layered windows. Audio and video clips are compiled, trimmed, and bedecked with visual effects in a production studio accessible to a cross section of users.
Well-rounded video production settings range from autoconfiguration and presets to manual customizations, letting you choose the details of audio and video outputs, plus extra formatting for iPod optimization and online streaming.
Additional applications, like a standalone audio editor and CD MenuMaker include wizards, tips, tutorials, and templates for easy maneuvering.
The price of a creative screencasting license is steep at $300, but if the trial leaves you wanting more, Camtasia is a worthwhile investment for frequent screencast producers requiring a lush feature set. Users looking to develop skills with prolonged use should start here too.

"A usefull, yet expensive software"
Pros: Indeed, a powerful program. It does just about anything you will ever need to do, and it does it with a clean and easy to use interface. Overall, a very well designed program.
Cons: Unfortunately, it is a bit of a pain to get any sort of video to capture. While it does not ruin the program on a whole, it is certainly a nice feature to have. Also, the price tag is far too steep for me to ever consider buying.
