CNET Editors' review
It won't win any beauty contests, but this free software calculator rocks the socks off the standard Windows applet. In addition to doing simple arithmetic, Calc98 supports financial functions, (including interest and discount, annuity, mortgage payment), unit conversions, physical constants, and support for matrices and complex numbers. It can even work in Reverse Polish Notation (RPN). A modest but well-chosen set of options lets you fine-tune the keypad and the way digits are displayed. Our main complaint with Calc98 is it can't emulate a paper tape--a useful feature when you want to store your calculations. We also thought pressing the shift key ought to trigger the program's shift function. But don't let that stop you. If you don't need good looks or graphing capabilities, Calc98 probably has everything you'd want in a desktop calculator.Publisher's Description

"Overall pretty good"
Version: Calc98 5.3
Pros
Loaded with features. Huge selection of unit conversions.
Cons
Its complex number mode is very clumsy to use so it's a pain for electrical engineers. No paper tape feature.
Summary
Loaded with features but not the best out there. I really need something like a paper tape.

"I Couldn't Live w/o RPN"
Version: Calc98 5.3
Pros
What's not to like? Small, fast, powerful, stable on Vista x64 and RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) facilitates involved calculations. I came across this years ago and haven't since had the desire to try another. I recommend it.
Cons
It's ugly.
-
