Version: CachemanXP 1.51
"A very reliable & efficient cache manager, memory manager & windows optimizer"
Pros: As a geek (Computer Systems Engineer) I always want to take out the most of my computers, I've tried several utilities like Free Ram XP Pro, PCMedik & PCBoost (Together), advanced windows care (both pro and personal versions). etc.
First I tried the freeware version (it doesn't have the auto-optimize feature)
But by just enabling cacheman XP to manage my computer cache I really noticed a system boost and less swap file - RAM interchange (which means faster response time!).
Also cacheman XP offer a Memory (RAM) manager which works by reclaiming ram for inactive applications and is very customizable:
it allows you to define "if free ram goes below..." value (self explained) and also you can define a time to pause between ram recovery attempts. Also you can define to postpone RAM recovery if CPU usage is over a defined %.
I MUST TELL, that the default setup for the RAM recovery feature never hung up my system or delayed program windows while switching, those are problems I always had with Free Ram XP Pro 1.52 and another RAM recovery tools.
And last but not least it as a Tweaking feature for many aspects of Windows OS.
I liked that every single tweaking aspect is clearly explained on the help file (Advanced windows care and other optimizing / tweaking tools never explain that).
Also cacheman xp allows you to backup your current settings to allow you roll back in case of a problem.
I decided to purchase the registered version and give a try to the auto-optimize feature:
the auto-optimize feature scans the computer and based on the computer profile and hardware setup optimizes it.
I must say that nearly all the optimizations cacheman xp did really improved my overall system performance & stability, the only ones that I don't liked were some visual tweaks, like hide the balloon tips and the font smoothing (clear type), but hey ! they are just merely visual stuff, all the other hardware, software and cache optimizations works fine.
A really great piece of software very well developed
Cons: Just a minor one:
when using auto-optimize, it would be great that Cacheman XP gives a summary of actual settings Vs. optimized settings and let the user decide for each tweak to apply it or not.

Version: CachemanXP 1.51
Pros: I t is a smart useful accessory . I have used this utility for several years. It is a smart creation which performs functions not available in Windows. The unregistered version is very serviceable.
Cons: None
