CNET Editors' review
CPU-Z yields an impressive data sheet of a computer system's functions and operations. By cutting out a lot of technical and manual searching, this handy freeware generates a list of information that computer lovers will find very helpful.
We had no trouble operating the program's interface since it had practically no command icons. The program is basically like reading a report, though one rich in information. Casual computer users probably won't get much from CPU-Z, since the information it presents is heavily data oriented. However, technophiles will love its attention to detail. The interface features seven tabs that catalog everything from your motherboard's chipset and manufacturer to your clock's technical details. In between, we were able to quickly find information about our PC's memory, cache, graphics, and SPD. CPU-Z lays everything out in easy-to-read tables full of highly technical terms and numbers. Seeking this information out through traditional methods would have taken much longer. The program, unfortunately, doesn't have any special features, though some accompanying charts and graphs would have been nice. Overall, this tool yields an impressive collection of raw data in an easy-to-ready format that makes it easy to use, too.
CPU-Z is freeware. Though those not well versed in technology may be turned off by all that data, computer lovers will discover a lot about their PCs. For them, CPU-Z is a must.

"STAY AWAY!"
Version: CPU-Z 1.62
Pros
None it's a malicious program
Cons
Installs adware, malware, etc.
Summary
I shut the installation down in the middle of it because my anti virus was catching multiple threats of crap being installed that I was not informed of. I am now trying to uninstall every trace of this software, I'm just glad I didn't let it finish.

"If Not for My Anti-Virus My PC Would Have Been Toast"
Version: CPU-Z 1.62
Pros
Not sure of any had to stop download
Cons
As soon as I clicked the download link my PC freaked out and notifications started popping up the my Anti-Virus blocked Adware, Spyware and about 10 other "malicious programs" as Norton puts it. My computer then froze for a good 5 minutes and I ended up having to reboot by unplugging. Even though I declined all the other crap it tried to add to my download there was obviously still quite a few not so good programs that tried to come through.
Summary
Unless you were thinking on turning your PC into a nice foot rest or a fancy paper weight I would say steer clear of this. Of course when I read the reviews I didn't believe them and had to see for myself but that was a mistake. I was a big fan of CPU-Z but it's time to move on and find some other software

"Loaded a lot of dangerous malwares without my consent!"
Version: CPU-Z 1.62
Pros
It just loaded in 3 malwares, changed my home page and changed my search engine, plus another adware/malware program called DealPly! The program CPU-Z which I wanted was corrupted, instead I got a lot of dangerous junk!
Cons
Dangerous download, you're not getting what you asked for!
Summary
My computer is infected, looks like a big cleanup job ahead!
I had the same problem with my download, I read everything carefully and slowly and clicked the "Decline" button to reject all the added software, and then the CPU-Z became corrupted and could not install, instead all I got was a different adware/malware called DealFly, and my homepage and search engine along with the New Tab pages were all changed without my permission. Malwarebytes found 3 malware in my computer, and yet somehow Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 did not see all this dangerous junk coming into my computer, neither did I until it was too late. I guess they found another door to sneak into, I don't know how!

"Works As Expected"
Version: CPU-Z 1.62
Pros
Version 1.62.0 X64, installed with options for three additional programs. Defaults were checked to install with CPU-Z, but unchecking each box allows opt-out. Installation was quick and no additional programs were installed.
Cons
Required to opt-out of crapware.

"No Longer Trustworthy"
Version: CPU-Z 1.62
Pros
*Used to be* an awesome app giving users many quick reference items regarding deep details about their system.
Cons
*Used to be* an awesome app, but apparently has either been hijacked or handed over unwittingly to malicious individuals.
Summary
I used to love this app, but when I went to fetch the download for a newer PC I noticed something I had never seen before: a disclaimer stating that another app would be installed to piggyback the download of the app I wanted and that doing so would automatically cause me to accept the policies of the company creating the piggyback downloader. No need for such a small app to use a piggyback app unless something malicious is going to take place in the background so when I went to click on the terms that I was supposed to agree to, the browser attempted to take me to another website that both Web of Trust and my security suite blocked for the safety of my computer. Used to be an awesome app, but no longer so. Leave this one alone and find a new option for accessing this data.

"Provides a quick view of system characteristics."
Version: CPU-Z 1.62
Pros
Shows complete details of the installed CPU and its operating core speed.
Also provides information on the motherboard, installed memory chips, and the installed graphics GPU.Cons
No cons, nice little package.
Summary
A simple but very useful tool to provide information that may not otherwise be readily available.

"Got no Problem"
Version: CPU-Z 1.62
Pros
Download was smooth, any download is important to me. Will it screw my computer? But this didn't. Told me more info. about my machine than I knew before. How cool is that?
Cons
I know you can't have everything but kind of was hoping it would tell me the max ram my machine can handle. It did tell me what it handles at present.
Summary
I'm good with this. Thank you CPUZ

"Too many parts that seem to be spam or spyware"
Version: CPU-Z 1.62
Pros
Did not manage to get it to start.
Cons
Could be due to being over careful (the program is free, after all), but Comodo Security stopped a part from loading as being malicious and quarantined it, and it failed to install properly...
So I downloaded the extra bit manually and clicked 'ignore' when two or three further warnings came up of trojans...
But when trying to start the program for the 1st time, I was then sent to a webpage to do something else.
All I wanted was a picture version of the 'green box' of task manager, so not worth the hassle and decided to remove immediately...
Have since run two spyware programs and both have found remaining issues that seem to be related, so am happy I got rid of it so quickly.Summary
Lots of add-ons that seem to be spam / trojans.
