Users can easily collect information about their CPU and motherboard with this freeware tool, but owners of newer systems may get incorrect results.
CPU-Z's tab and gray dialog textbox format screams "Just the facts." However, you do get important information about your CPU, motherboard, and memory. CPU-Z places all information under five tabs: CPU, Cache, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD. The utility isn't testing your system, but collecting standard information about each component. All results are presented with the barest of explanatory information. If you don't know the meaning of each abbreviation, you're not ready for this utility. CPU-Z's documentation is practically non-existent. However, it is easy to search the Web for definitions of all categories.
For serious users, CPU-Z makes it simple to upload all values to an online database to check your CPU and motherboard against other users with similar systems. You also can create a text file or HTML page of your results.
Users of very new systems may not receive accurate results, however. This freeware is updated often, but still may not be recent enough for your system. Nonetheless, intermediate to advanced users will be happy with the quick and accurate information system collected by this freeware.
