CD Storage Master lets users keep track of their CDs, games, movies, and software without having to actually import the content onto their computers. Although it's not the most intuitive program we've ever used, it's fairly easy to use and has some cool extra features.

Getting information into the program is easy, once you figure it out. For an audio CD, we simply inserted the CD, clicked the New button, and a screen opened allowing us to enter the album information. Users can either do this manually or have the program populate the information from CDDB or Amazon. We chose CDDB and the program quickly imported the artist, album name, and track listing. The program was not able to retrieve the program's cover art, but it was simple enough to find the image on the Internet, save it, and then upload it into the program. The program organizes media by type and then by genre, making easy to browse or search. The program's built-in Help file is thorough but not particularly well-written, so you may have to experiment a bit to get the hang of the program.

One of the features we especially liked was the capability for users to track who they loan items out to. A separate database for contacts makes it easy to enter borrower contact information and track down missing CDs. The program also makes it easy to create and print CD labels based on previously entered cover art, which we thought was a nice touch. CD Storage Master has a 30-day trial period. It installs politely but leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program for all users.
