Although it lacks a few of the bells and whistles found in other PC-cleaning applications, this free program offers more than enough features to make it a worthy download. CCleaner's interface is logically designed and makes it easy to wipe away your tracks from Internet Explorer and Mozilla, various Windows system areas, and some third-party applications.
CCleaner doesn't support a large number of extraneous programs as some competitors do, but it can erase traces from such popular programs as Spybot - Search & Destroy and WinZip. Also missing is a secure file shredder, but it makes up for the omission by supplying a Registry-cleaning utility, which quickly scans for invalid entries before removing them. CCleaner can even back up your Registry before removal, in case it accidentally removes a crucial component, and the download includes a feature for uninstalling any program on your machine.
Since this free application handles the majority of PC-cleaning chores and offers a nice extra, we have no problem recommending CCleaner to all users, except those who need to get rid of supersensitive data.

It cleans: Internet Explorer (Temporary files, URL history, cookies, Autocomplete form history, index.dat); Firefox (Temporary files, URL history, cookies, download history); Windows (Recycle Bin, Recent Documents, Temporary files, and Log files); Registry cleaner (Advanced features to remove unused and old entries, including File Extensions, ActiveX Controls, ClassIDs, ProgIDs, Uninstallers, Shared DLLs, Fonts, Help Files, Application Paths, Icons, and Invalid Shortcuts. So comes with a comprehensive backup feature.)
Several changes such as improving support for IE7 autocomplete cleaning, and adding Vista Recycle Bin secure deletion. Version 2.04.543 added system tray icon, added minimize to system tray option, and optimized file deletion routines.

"For Freeware, it works really well."
Pros: It does what it is supposed to. And therefore helps keep my system running faster, with relatively no crashes, and no conflicts. It's SIMPLE to use.
Cons: A few more customizable settings would be nice, but it is not fair to expect a piece of freeware to have all the options of a paid program.

Pros: this software has several useful tools like a start menu utility and a registry cleaner. its one of the best freeware tools i use. i have several other freeware cleaners and it this one is the most thorough.

Pros: Cleans useless RegPaths, junky Temp garbage, annoying Cookies, undeletable garbage and leftovers by uninstallments.
Cons: I wish it could clean malware leftovers like Spysheriff and SmileyCentral trash it leaves behind. I also wished it could clean the Security Center like when COMODO Firewall Pro ON or OFF notice is stuck on.

Pros: Does a wonderful job of clean the computer to unwanted junk. Pretty thorough, fast and simple to use. Updates fairly easy, if you wish. I've been using it for over a year now, personal and for clients. Works the way the great software should.
