"BootItNG delivers on all it's promises"

by leechap on June 5, 2005

Pros: BootItNG will resize, copy and move partitions, do image backups to HDD or directly to cd-r, or dvd+/-r. It allows

you install and boot as many operating

systems as you want, from any hard drive.

It is absolutely rock-solid software. The support is unrivaled in the industry, questions are answered immediately on the private discussion forum by Product Support as well as expert users. It the best money you will ever spend on software, perhaps with the exeption of your operating system. Gone are the days of viruses or system crashes

being a huge problem. BootitNG can help you recover from otherwise catastrophic events in mere minutes.

Cons: There are no drawbacks with BootItNG. Any user who spends a minimal amount of time to learn the intuitive interface will be able to use every function of this incredibly powerful software.

    "Extremely satisfied!!"

by luebke on May 19, 2005

Pros: It works without a hitch, but, don't think it's like falling off a log. I had to do a great deal of reading and studying before attempting to use this product; but, this is not unusual. This is a difficult subject for all but the most experienced.

The user manual while complete does not do a good job on the how to side of things (it could be much much better and if it were they would knock the socks off all the competition) but their video aids are of considerable assistance. And, if you have a question you will get an almost immediate response from their tech support.

I originally purchased Nortons Ghost and Partition Magic...and returned both after reading the nightmare accounts of others about programs failures, data loss and total lack of tech support. Their manuals are not good either. On-line reports are only slightly better for Acronis products. Seems these companies release their products before fully tested and then rely on user feedback to debug them. This is totally unacceptable, especially with partitioning and imaging where so much is at stake.

I am using the standard version of Bootit, not the windows version. I feel this is best in order to avoid problems.

This is probably the most rock solid imaging and partitioning package available. You should not be disappointed if you do your homework.

Cons: User manual should be entirely rewritten with input from end users as to what we need. The product is so.... good and the manual so... bad. They are shooting themselves in the foot.

"Reliable multi-function utility at low price"

by Viking Man on May 12, 2005

Pros: Many functions: manipulate partitions, partition image and restore, backup MBR. Reliable - no errors moving, resizing, image and restoring partitions. Run from floppy disk or install onto hard disk. Manual covers the basic functions well. Great value for money and compact.

Cons: With this software you can irrecoverably erase your entire hard disk in a couple of clicks - be careful, if possible experiment on a non-critical hard disk first. The manual doesn't explain the purpose of the many configuration options in detail. The software will work without a floppy drive (CD only) but not perfectly , for example you can't backup your MBR properly without a floppy.

"Three programs for the price of one!"

by mustache on April 21, 2005

Pros: Five stars. This program allows one to choose which OS to boot from, makes images of partitions and creates and changes the size of partitions. It's cheaper than its competition. It is better than Partition Magic, working when PM says it can't operate because there are bad disk sectors. It is as good as Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image at making images of drives and partitions.

    Cons: It's hard to learn!

"This is a great product for multi-booters"

by lurkswithin on April 15, 2005

Pros: It has been perfect for setting up my multiboot configuration. To be able to keep each HDD and Partition with an OS bootable and still be able to access the others is fantastic. Working on the imaging back ups but have no complaints so far. It really worked better than the built in boot manager in XP. To be able to remove and replace drives at will or move them about without having MBR issues is great. Can't say enough about it.Reccommend it to everyone.
