Though this program is reliable, its limited feature set doesn't offer much more than basic editing. BetterJPEG is a convenient, small download. Once it's launched, a clear folder tree opens files as thumbnails, which is very handy for quick searches. Considering how lightweight the program is, it can't perform much in the way of advanced editing, limiting you to tweaks such as cropping images, removing red-eye, or adding text. A sturdy search function lets you search for images by name or by folder. One basic function missing from BetterJPEG's menu is resizing. The program interface is a bit cluttered but overall easy to figure out and master. Though this program may be best used to simply view JPEG images, if you're in need of very basic editing tools, BetterJPEG is at least reliable and lightweight.

BetterJPEG is a JPEG photo editor specifically designed to avoid recompression loss when editing photos. BetterJPEG does not recompress parts that didn't change. The list of lossless JPEG editing supported includes rotation, crop, brightness and color adjustment, date/EXIF info/text insertion, red eye removal, and conversion to grayscale.

Version 2.0.0.3 adds grayscale, brightness/color adjustment, JPEG noise removal features and improves support for UNICODE strings in EXIF.
