This slick file-synchronization utility gives you remote access to e-mail messages, Web favorites, and other files. It keeps the files on secure online servers, so you can work with them from anywhere using your Web browser. Unfortunately, a lack of in-program help and an interface too simple for its own good keeps BeInSync from earning a top rating.
Installation and setup are straightforward. A wizard helps create "shares" for private or group use. Your private shares can include messages and contacts from Outlook or Favorites from IE, though unfortunately you'll get no support for alternative e-mail clients or browsers. You create group shares in four simple steps: select the directory or files you want to share, add e-mail addresses, write a note, and click Send. From there, adding people to group shares is simple, though removing them is not.
In fact, the whole interface is a mixed bag. The View, Settings, and Status buttons on top do most of the work, but finding our way around wasn't as easy as we expected. The online-only help has good information, but it's also difficult to navigate and is not searchable. Nevertheless, as long as you're comfortable with sharing your information via BeInSync's secure servers, it's a very effective way to backup or sync data across multiple computers and share files with friends and colleagues.

Version: BeInSync 3.0.93
"This isnt really a backup appliction but p2p file share"
Pros: it has ok interface and 1GB storage is free. intuitive file selection.
Cons: It doesnt have "backup jobs" concept. it doesn't compress or encrypt files.
you can't manage folders or files to be backed up separately, it uploads everything at once... so you have to deselect then find other folder and reselect etc. so its jack of all trades master of nothing.

Version: BeInSync 3.0.93
"It's like a warm water on a hot day"
Pros: design interface is alright. can sync computers fine and direct p2p with auto rel time sync optional also nice.
Cons: Major design and architecture flaws:
the online file backup manager remembers "computers" but not actual backup jobs.
Lets say you have backed some files upand for some reason had to uninstall soft and reinstall it on your machine. Thats where the game ends. your local application loses ties to online "computer" file system and no longer tied together.
your previous "backup"is floating in the digital space and theres no way you can manipulate or connect to it any longer, besides downloading WHOLE backup back on your pc. you have to start ALLOVER. I mean wth developer people were thinking...
so this is pretty much single backup job application and it definitely is not ready for commercial distribution, I mean does this app really deserve 4 red stars from Cnet editors? NO. the only thing that is practical and useful and works is syncing the folders...

Version: BeInSync 3.0.93
Pros: Good software...expenssive...not worth the price.
Cons: only 1 GB storage and thereafter over $50 per year!!!It is a daylight robbery. Why should i use it when i can get Acronis, better software at less than half the price?
