Electronic Arts' innovative Battlefield 1942 plunges you into the most brutal war in history, combining elements of first-person shooters, flight simulators, arcade games, and tactical war games. To fully experience all the eye and ear candy Battlefield 1942 has to deliver, you'll need a fairly advanced system. However, once you have the game running, controlling your character is easy enough that you can jump right in. At the start, you choose a specialty for your character from a list that includes a sniper, an engineer, and an antitank gunner. All character types have unique strengths, but never fear: all of them can use any vehicle, from the fighter plane and the bomber to the jeep and the tank. Though multiplayer action is an important element of the full version, the demo restricts you to individual play. Nevertheless, thanks to its outstanding graphics, challenging gameplay, and tactical depth, even the demo of Battlefield 1942 can devour hours of your time.Publisher's description
From Electronic Arts :In Battlefield 1942, you fight World War II's historic battles when the Axis Powers meet the Allies in different parts of the world. You fight the battles of Midway, the D-Day invasion in Normandy, and the war in North Africa and Japan, where millions of people fight and give their lives on land, at sea, and in the air.
The game is a first-person shooter with many assignments spread over four campaigns. Several players can fight online on wide battlefields and control airplanes, tanks, and aircraft carriers. The weapons are easy to handle, but to be successful in Battlefield 1942 you must be cunning and have stamina.
The Battlefield 1942 single-player demo lets you play the map set in Tobruk.

Large multiplayer community.
Cons: Better have a good graphics card.
Audio is a little tricky to setup properly.
Very slow game to load.
Desert Combat mod steals players away from the original game online! I HATE DESERT COMBAT!
