Baseball fans, like any sports fans, are naturally obsessed by statistics. This software is aimed at ballpark viewers who want to know exactly how much heat a pitcher is putting on his fastball on a given day. With a simple point-and-click PDA interface, it allows a fan to time exactly how long it takes for a pitch to reach the plate, and then converts those results into the ball speed. Users simply start the timer when the pitcher throws the ball, and stop it when the ball is hit or caught by the catcher. The timer claims to work with precision down to 0.01 second, although users should keep in mind its accuracy will in fact depend on the reflex speed of the person starting and stopping the timer. Once the calculations are made, the program can track a pitcher's progress in graph form, in a plain-text history file, or in a calendar that displays best and average daily ball speed. For baseball numbers geeks--and we know there are millions of you out there--this software can be an excellent way to take calculations into your own hands.Publisher's description
