Remove the detritus of Windows with this very helpful freeware. Baku's interface is a lesson in clean, efficient design, and cleaning up your computer is easily completed using the three wizards to remove unwanted files, invalid Registry keys, and Most Recently Used lists.
This flexible program allows you to search for specific junk file types and easily exclude folders or drives from the scan. Results can be sorted a number of ways, with buttons to select (or deselect) all items for deletion. One oddity: Instead of going back to the main interface Baku completely closes if you cancel a search.
This freeware clean-up tool is powerful enough for system administrators but easy enough for the intermediate or Registry-savvy user.

Baku allows you to search for system registry errors and unneeded files that can be safely removed. Features include deletes empty folders, history folder contents, recent documents folder contents, temp folder contents, temporary Internet files, and cookies. Searches Windows log files, shortcuts to missing files and folders and user specified file types. Registry scan removes unused and obsolete keys, including ActiveX/COM, Application Paths, Fonts, Help files, Icon files, Sound files, Uninstall Programs, and Windows Installer.
The registry is automatically backed up before any changes are made. Implements the Department of Defense clearing and sanitizing standard DOD 5220.22-M, to give you confidence that once deleted, your file data is gone forever. Version 3.4.2966 includes unspecified updates.

"A Lot of Power for One Small Program"

Pros
It's extremely thorough and fairly fast. I love the registry compacter. I generally use (and love) ccleaner, but I think this program covers more stuff, and in more detail. While I won't give up my ccleaner, I will supplement it's actions with this one.
Baku is both effective and useful. My rating might be closer to a 4.5-star, but overall, I think it's an extremely powerful program! It sped up my pc just fine!
Cons
This program is almost scarey in some ways. I'm a bit of a novice in most areas, so I look forward to learning more about using it both safely and effectively.
BACK-UP stuff, make RESTORE POINTS!!! Especially when in doubt about what a program does or how to use it properly! This one packs a lot of punch!!! More thorough information would be most helpful for novices like me.

It was easy to use which has to be a plus and did the job of cleaning very quickly
Cons
It may have gotten rid of one programe, Adobie 8 on me, one which I very seldom use and can be replaced easily if needed, so not a lot of harm done if it did do that on me.

Baku is a powerful tool and one must really know what they are doing when cleaning certain registry files. Very scary, I lost All my automatic update files, and couldn't even check my Windows live email account.... whew!
I had to uninstall Baku, and 'Restore' my computer to an earlier start date. Fortunately I got everything back. The only reason I give it a 1 star is because I was able to uninstall it easily enough. They need to explain certain areas about cleaning up the registry (in particular), in better detail. Maybe a PDF with clearer directions.
