From Avidemux :Avidemux is a video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities. The program was written from scratch by Mean, but code from other people and projects has been used as well. Patches, translations and even bug reports are always welcome.
What's new in this version:
- Improved support for MP4 files including support for 64-bit files.
- Fixed memory leak when indexing DVR-MS files.

"Avidemux could not even open a video file."
Pros: There was nothing to like, so I deleted it.
Cons: Avidemux could not open a single video file.
Summary: Avidemux could not open any of my video files Some of them are from a DVD on learning French, and the rest are flash files.

"My favorite conversion tool!! Freeware even!!"
Pros: I use this to convert Beyond TV Mpgs into AVI. The editing tool is great! I can smoothly navigate the file to cut and paste where needed. I also got this to convert some VOB files that Vidomi wouldn't. Super easy controls. Love AVIDEMUX!!
Cons: Could use an undo button in editing. Not a big deal though. I like the jobslist control but would like better instructions in using this software. Still, just looking for perfection. It works for all I need.
Summary: I may buy the full version to gain direct DVD to Avi conversion. But for now it works fine with DVDcrypter. Excellent product.

Version: Avidemux 2.4.3 r4276
"Maybe it's a video editor; but it didn't seem to work"
Pros: It's free, so you won't feel ripped off. Some of the buttons work some of the time
Cons: Tried using it briefly with different formats. Audio and video didn't sync. Video was imported squished. User interface not intuitive and very buggy.
Summary: Find a better program.
