From Avidemux :Avidemux is a video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities. The program was written from scratch by Mean, but code from other people and projects has been used as well. Patches, translations and even bug reports are always welcome.
Version 2.4.1 R4297 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"Love it: good basic free avi and mpg editor"
Pros: It can edit large files. Sound matches video for files under 2Gb, and the quality of the saved files is excellent, almost as good as the original (to my eye). Joining files is easy and automatic, and appears seamless.
Cons: Not a great variety in saved formats, pretty much .avi and .mpg only. Large files will edit well, but the audio seems to get out of sync with video.
Summary: I love this software. I am upgrading avidemux 2.4 to 2.4.3, and have used this software for months without any real problems. It's free too, of course.

"seems great but how does it work?"
Pros: It seems to work well . . . .
Cons: . . . but there are no instructions anywhere that I've found, the web site is no help.
Summary: If you know how to use this kind of software, it's probably great. But I don't, and I can't figure it out. Some instructions would be a great idea.

"why didn't i click on this first!!"
Pros: i tried a few different programs that all lagged and were horrid!, this is great downlode it from that german website when you do downlode it, its perfect for cutting which is all i wanted it for but its got a tonne! of tools i probably wont use,
Cons: nothing really, it's exactly what i wanted, only thing i don't like is that it has gotten a bad rateing.
Summary: perfect for video blogging i love it!

Pros: I used it to cut a video. It works very well. It will take some times to learn how to use it. But definitely not very hard. Interface looks very nice.

No confusing options or icons
It was the best for a 1st timer like myself
Its free!!Cons: I was not sure what to do after I downloaded the Zip file. I extracted the files to a folder and couldnt find any installation files. Finally I got to the file (avidemux2_gtk) and it worked. It was a bit confusing at first.
Summary: Cool product. I would recommend it to all !!!!!!
