CNET Editors' review
It's hard to tell if registry defraggers and cleaners work, but the Auslogics Registry Defragger looks good. It's hard to gauge if these programs are effective because once you're done using them, you'd need more than a mere store-bought machine with store-loaded programs to judge CPU speed.
When you run it, it tells you that it will perform a registry analysis, after which you will be able to review its registry report, and once that's done with you can run the registry optimization, requiring a reboot to defrag and compact the registry. It's a fairly serious program, and once you begin the analysis it won't let you move the mouse outside the program window. It also "strongly recommends" that users close all other programs while it runs, although this is a standard warning for registry-cleaning apps.
An expected change in clock speed or other performance benchmarks never materialized. Resource-intensive Internet browsers and e-mail clients may be piggish, but they're necessary and don't load any faster or slower than normal after running the reg defrag. Until a registry defragger or cleaner can demonstrate benchmarkable improvements to a computer, they'll be little more than 21st century snake oil.
Auslogics Registry Defrag - Optimize your registry and speed up your PC - Download Video Previews:Publisher's Description
From Auslogics Software:
Microsoft Windows and various programs access the registry a few hundred times a second. Therefore a fragmented registry is one of the major reasons why your computer may be so slow. Auslogics Registry Defrag can significantly speed up your computer by helping you defragment registry, remove gaps, and make it contiguous, smaller and faster to access.
What's new in this version: Version 5.5.20.525 is a bug fixing release.

"Belt and braces"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
Easy and thorough. I have the regular degrag program but this is belt and braces.
Cons
Maybe it would be good to include this with the registry cleaner, but it's no big deal having it separate.
Summary
Combine this with Auslogic's registry cleaner and regular defrag program and your computer will get right back up to speed. Auslogic rocks!

"ah, a sweet reg defragger"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
does the job, quickly
Cons
none so far
-
"No Difference"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
There is actually no difference from this program than using what you have already install with you operating system,
Cons
well none that I can tell
Summary
It's perfect to use as a backup to what windows installed with the operating system.
-
"One of a kind?"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
It's fast, easy to use, and benign. It tells you what it's done, and what kind of improvement to expect from those actions.
Cons
Haven't found anything yet.
Summary
I'm not sure how many other registry defraggers there are out there, but this one certainly seems to do a nice job. Registry editing tools tend to scare me; I've seen overly aggressive products (read: the hateful RegCure from Victoria, B.C.) virtually destroy an operating system, bringing a computer to its knees. Still, one must do something to keep the unruly registry under some kind of control (an issue Microsoft seems to keep ignoring), and this seems like a minimally invasive way of doing it.

"Easy to Use & It's FAST!"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
Very fast disk defrag.
Defrags multiple disks at the same time.
Numerous useful options.Cons
I can't think of a single Con against this program.
Summary
I have not found a better or faster disk defrag program.
A small payment is required after the trial period but worth every penny!
Only very mean people that think all software should be free would moan over the cost. -
"fast defragment"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
I have been trying several defrags and this is perhaps the fastest and thorough.
Cons
However, I am not prepare to buy it because I have a program that fixes and defrags the registry and after playing one I am not ready to pay for another
Summary
If i did not have paid for another program I might buy this one

"Not good at all."
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
Unfortunately, though not labeled here as such, this is trialware and unless you pay $19.99 the product expires after a period of time. I was quite surprised by this & very disappointed.
Cons
I can't give 5 stars to a program that causes a PC to fail to boot...
Summary
Automatically creates a WinXP restore point before altering the registry.
-
"fast and efficient"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
very fast and seems effective
Cons
not quite sure what it is doing other than cleaning up.
Summary
The registry being a big part of the hard drive real estate ought to be defragged routinely and Auslogics is the only game in town...

"Easy to use; works well"
Version: Auslogics Registry Defrag 5.5.20.525
Pros
No problems; works well.
Cons
Nothing, it's great.
Summary
I know these days they tell you you don't need to defrag the registry but if you are a 'seeing is believing' type, then why does the computer work better when you do?? This ap does the job and I have been using it for a long time (I occasionally try others as well). Gets my 2 thumbs up. Plus it's free.
