Audio Converter quickly and easily converts your audio or video files to WMA, AIFF, Vorbis OGG, Wave, and MP3 format. The integrated CD ripper features automatic retrieval of disc information using CDDB, and Jitter error correction support. I downloaded this piece of software for the exclusive purpose of converting .wav files to .mp3 files and it failed to do the job.

Once I became familiar with the use of its -really self-explanatory- dropdowns and buttons it is a breeze to use. Perfect conversions among the several formats I use, .m4a, ,mp3, .wav, .WMA, .aiff. It is the most sensible and flexible tool I use.

No negatives whatsoever!
Summary
I needed a program for converting various forms of music files to other forms. A friend was sending me musical gems, but in different compressed formats, which I wanted to convert for local play to .mp3 (because my Sonique program can speed up or slow down playback of .mp3's) and to .wav for making CD's. This program is a delight to use. Appears flawless, and it operates, on this fast-chip computer, very quickly. I am delighted.
Wasn't able to enter review before CNET closed the dialogue. I have used the converter to change among various formats. I can easily select a new output directory (where I want the finished converted piece to go) and easily select format desired. It has worked VERY quickly, and flawlessly, for me each time. I couldn't be happier. My needs may be simpler than the needs of other users.

"Doesn't convert .wma files!!!!"

No pros at all! Disregard the one filled-in star as I had to fill in at least one although the program doesn't deserve it.
Cons
Contrary to what the developer's ******** on the web site proclaims, this program will NOT convert DRM protected .wma files to .mp3 format. ALL .wma files are DRM protected by Microsoft which developed the Windows Media Audio format.
Summary
As stated above, the program simply doesn't convert protected .wma format audio files which are encoded with Digital Rights Management (DRM) by Microsoft.

Wouldn't convert an AIFF - says this file type is not supported, and gives me a link to a page where I can download support for other file types...but NOT AIFF.
And now I can't delete the .dll files from my computer. Terrible product.

In most cases, it completes the job. Provides a decent ability to adjust compression settings to suit each job.
Cons
Some file types do not work. UI is a little awkward and some settings are in odd places, so some basic settings take a while to find. ID3 tagging rarely maintained whether in version 7 or 8. Version 8 does not appear to have any significant improvements to version 7; in version 8 i experienced the same problems as in 7. My biggest gripe though is that customer support simply does not exist, even for those of us who purchased licenses. I have asked several times about the same issue (certain file types that are supported will not convert) yet their support simply does not respond. Not even to offer a suggestion, or to say, "can't help you, sorry", nothing. Minor issues with software is one thing, in fact it's to be expected, but being ignored time and again after buying a license is absolutely unforgivable.
