Keeping your car running like a champ requires a bit of maintenance now and again. When that time arises, you want to take your beloved to a mechanic you trust. The same holds true for your computer. You'll want to use a trusted maintenance/optimization suite, one that has done you right in the past and has kept your operating system healthy.
Ashampoo WinOptimizer sports a clean, professional interface. You can go for the One-Click Optimization feature, which runs program at pre-determined settings, or run each of the 22 included tools individually. These are categorized under six groups: Clean up, Optimize, Privacy and security, Tune system settings, Diagnosis, and File tools. Within each category, specific features are listed on the right which makes for an easy two-pane navigation.
In addition to system tweaks, WinOptimizer comes with two skins and can create backups so that any changes can be undone. All of the tools, from the drive cleaner to defragger to the file splitter, ran without a hitch, smoothly and without disrupting other programs, and were effective. Novice users will appreciate the ease of use while pro users will find plenty of ways to get their hands dirty.

"It does what it is suppose to!"
Pros: One-touch which works! Takes a machine that seems so slow, you would think that you have an IBM XT and after use brings it up to current speeds.
Cons: Takes a long time for full scan but could be because I have too much stuff on the machine.

"A very good product, safe and easy to use."
Pros: WinOptimizer 5.09 gathers together many Windows XP tools which are otherwise difficult to find and use. It works very well and more importantly appears to be entirely safe - for example, I have had no problems using the registry cleaner.
Cons: There is nothing about WinOptimizer that I can criticise.

Pros: The product is very easy to use. I like the fact that I can do a one-click optimization.
Cons: It seems to make firefox act strange after the first run. I manually cleaned out my cache file and it seemed to correct any problems I had.
Summary: This is a pretty solid product. I'd like to see more integration with Vista to optimize it better.
