Keeping your car running like a champ requires a bit of maintenance now and again. When that time arises, you want to take your beloved to a mechanic you trust. The same holds true for your computer. You'll want to use a trusted maintenance/optimization suite, one that has done you right in the past and has kept your operating system healthy.
Enter Ashampoo WinOptimizer Platinum Suite. With a gorgeous interface and the simple One-Click Optimization feature, the app expands on its already-good reputation with an eye-catching product. WinOptimizer offers Drive Cleaner, Registry Cleaner, Internet Cleaner, Internet Tuner, File Associator, DLL Cleaner, File Wiper, and Start-Up Tuner. Each of the eight tools features a metallic interface, a nice overview, a warning where applicable, and a large Start button.
WinOptimizer safeguards potentially dangerous tools such as Registry Cleaner and DLL Cleaner by flagging only items that can be deleted without worry. One-Click Optimization is the safest bet for a quick checkup, running all the tools in one swoop. Novice users will appreciate the ease of use while pro users will find plenty of ways to get their hands dirty.

In addition to Vista compatibility, WinOptimizer 4 also comes with three new modules, a brand-new hard disk defragmenter, a huge number of new system tweaking options and many other improvements and enhancements. The new version includes three new modules and a completely new Vista-compatible version of the disk defragmenter. In addition to this a very large number of new options has been added to the popular Tweaking Tools module--you can now adjust well over 400 Windows system settings.
Version 4.4 fixed some minor issues of Vista compatibility; fixed 'http-connection' option (All OS), adds new languages: German, English, Hungarian, Russian, Polish, Czech, Chinese (simplified), Spanish, French, Italian, Slovak, Danish, Arabian, Bulgarian.

"I paid $10 for it as an upgrade."
Pros: But it is in desperate need of a major update. Was it worth it? Not as a full featured tuning application for "Vista" but I do like the defrag module and that alone made it worth the $10 dollars. The "System Benchmark" is accurate. The GUI is great when I set the blue and black scheme. The process manager is accurate and easy to use. The file encrypter works ok. What I find here is that this is a combination of several other "Ashampoo" applications but in a slimmed down versions. If you can get it as cheap as I did, it's worth having for both "Vista" and "XP".
Cons: The IP spam blocker isn't compatible with "Vista". The file cleaner is dangerous to use on "Vista" and I hate registry cleaners. This application is in major need of a big update. "Ashampoo" spam and their hunger for money make this something to look closely at before you deal with them. I'm so darn mad about them trying to get money out of me for the anti spyware upgrade when I own a valid key with six months left, I may never deal with them again. This is the only company that hes ever pulled this BS on me in my life. I think thats very shady business dealings by them and proves they care more about money then their customers.

Pros: It gets the job done efficiently, you can chose your options or just use the "1-Click-Optimisation" button. There are lots of other useful features included.

"WinOptimizer 4 voted best in a review of Germanys largest computer magazine"
Pros: ComputerBILD.de, Germanys largest computer magazine (two times a month,
more than 1.2 Million readers) reviewed eight PC optimization tools in issue 14/2007.
Ashampoo WinOptimizer 4.35 was voted the ONLY program to really
make your Windows computer faster and was voted the best of all.
All other seven programs have been voted one point (of six) voted down
because they did not optimize the computer that much.

Pros: Vista x64 ready
Cons: One of the few vista registry cleaners that work allthough misses many errors.Also leaves many items in the recycle bin.
