When you need something more powerful than the Windows' built-in uninstaller, Ashampoo UnInstaller may be the solution. The program both installs and removes software and also offers basic cleanup tools for deleting cookies, fonts, broken shortcuts, Internet Explorer add-ons, duplicate files, and empty folders.
Using the installer module to add new applications makes the most sense, as it creates a log file that will then be used by the uninstaller to remove every trace. This process could've been smoother, but it does work as advertised. You also can uninstall non-logged applications in a similar fashion to the Add/Remove Programs function included in Windows. The other modules work well but seem like afterthoughts since they have little to do with the program's core functionality, excepting the Find/Remove Empty Folders tool. The program also offers an Expert mode for additional control of various processes.
Though it's a far cry from essential, Ashampoo UnInstaller does an excellent job if you take the time to configure it. It's not the best bet for newbies, but we recommend it to power users and pros who demand ultimate control over their systems.
Publisher's description
From Ashampoo :Uninstall programs right and stop Windows slowdown. The longer you use Windows the slower it gets. Your hardware isn't getting slower - it's Windows that's getting clogged up. One of the main reasons for this is garbage left over by programs that don't get removed properly. Lazy programmers think that what you don't see doesn't hurt you and so they only include the main program components in the Uninstall entry in the Windows Control Panel. The rest isn't visible but it's still there, adding more and more unnecessary ballast to your Windows setup with every program you remove. Many programs leave hundreds of Registry entries, files and even drivers and Windows services in place after they have been uninstalled.

Version: Ashampoo UnInstaller Platinum 2.8.1
Pros: It only works like it's supposed to if you have the patients to work with it. Provided you allow it to install your programs and let it create a log file of each program you install with it but it's not the one for me. It;s easier for me to use windows add/remove programs, then WinASO registry optimizer ( add /remove programs module) to get the left over registry keys and traces then to work with this program.
Cons: Only works good if you allow it to install your programs. Seriously slowed down my startup time when allowing the install monitor to run. I just don't have the patients needed for this program to be a success so it's out-a-here.

"Well, it won't ruin your registry."
Pros: Unlike some other applications of this type, this one won't delete the left over registry items. It says it does but thats a lie. I have used two other applications that does and both deleted some shared registry keys. This application has a great GUI and it's very easy to use but I find it no better then the "Windows" uninstaller. It's just another product by "Ashampoo" that looks pretty and does nothing. Total waste of money.
Cons: They say it cleans up the left overs but it doesn't. Sometimes it fails to delete the C: program file. It installs an item in the auto start menu, "Install Monitor" and it sucks. This auto start item is nothing more then a pain in the rear.

Version: Ashampoo UnInstaller Platinum 2.8.1
"Solid Protection to your system"
Pros: This uninstaller works the way that all of the older uninstallers worked. It takes a picture of your system, then whatever program you are installing is installed. Afterwards, this uninstaller takes another picture of your system and compares the information to the first one, recording the changes. Those changes are kept on file. When you un-install whatever program at a later date, the uninstaller simply reverses those changes. Your system is never harmed, nor are any files messed with which were not changed during the installation. It's very safe and and better then using 'System Restore' if the installed program has been on your system for awhile.
Cons: As with all of these types of programs, they are real slow......
If you just installed the program that you are trying to get rid of, then 'System Restore' is a better choice. The choice in using this program or 'System Restore' should be based upon how long the program that you are wanting to remove has been on your computer.
