Artweaver functions: realistic imitation of brushes, chalks, and charcoals; detailed adjustment possibilities for altering existing brushes and creating new custom brushes; common image processing tools like gradient, crop, fill, and selection tools; countless file formats like AWD (Artweaver), BMP, GIF, JPEG, PCX, TGA, TIFF, and PNG; transparency and layers; large number of filters like sharpen, soften, emboss, and mosaic; many effect filters; editable text layers (font, size, color, leading); support for pressure sensitive pen tablets; history function to undo or redo last working steps; support for plug-ins.

Version: Artweaver 0.4.9.1
Pros: Lots of brushes, painting styles (Oils, pastels, etc.) With so many options, it can seem overwhelming at first, but it's plenty functional without tweaking everything. Easy to get started, but plenty of flexibility if you choose.

"The most awesome of freeware art software"
Pros: I like:
- It accepts wacom tablet info
- Has a nice feature set and layout
- Many types of brushes and many options for brush tweaking
- Layer support (w- folders)
- 'Artweaver' is the most awesome name I've seen for a drawing/painting program
- Many filters
- and many options that are in other drawing programs, such as Photoshop
Cons: It doesn't have a very big user base... or in other words, I would like a large community of Art Weaver's to help with it's development -- though in it's defense I believe it is very new.
