Version: Artisan DVD/DivX Player 3.17
Cons: when downloaded, it asks you to do a free upgrade. This then sends you to ta website where both the "terms and conditions" and "privacy" links give a 404 not found message.
Given the other reviews that caution about adware, this does not make me willing to install the software.

Version: Artisan DVD/DivX Player 3.17
"Many features inactive in free version; nag screen"
Pros: The program is set up nicely with an intuitive interface. I like having the hour:minute:second timer which shows how much of the movie has played. The Play, Stop, Play DVD and Single Step (frame-by-frame advance) buttons work in the free version.
Cons: Unfortunately, just about everything else doesn't work unless you upgrade to the Pro version. Pause (one of the most basic features), Fast Forward, Fit Window, Zoom In, Zoom Out, Normal Size, Full Screen and DVDControlMneu [sic] all require the Pro version. Capture Image gives an error message each time, and Previous and Next freeze the screen which then goes black. If all you want is the ability to frame by frame advance, and you have your own screen capture program, you can capture shots from movies with Artisan DVD/DivX Player. For anything else, I think there are better free programs out there. CyberLink's Power DVD came with my computer and it's heads and tails above Artisan DVD/DivX Player except in the Single Step department. I believe Power DVD is not, however, a free program for those who didn't have it installed originally on their computer. I may be incorrect, but I believe that is the case.

"nice try but i would rather use win-media player"
Pros: it plays but that's about it
Cons: IN ORDER TO USE THIS PLAYER YOU MUST UP-GRADE YO YHE PRO VERSION IN WHICH YOU GO A SPAM TYPE SURVEY. AFTER THAT YOU DO GET THE PRO VERSION, BUT AFTER I DOWN-LOADED THE PRO VERSION THE CONTROLS WERE USELESS. YOU WUOLD BE BETTER OFF WITH WIN-MEDIA PLAYER 9 OR 10

Cons: It needs major rebuilt in GUI before it is worth download.

Pros: it worked and had good quality
Cons: i was not very happy with the overall "running" of the software and the ability to give flexibility to watching movies. the short keys were not really working. if they charged for it and make a better quality product, it might be worth it!
