"I traded down"
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
Installation was easy. Launch was easy. Display is pretty.
Cons
While some improvements might have been made in v9.1. I have lost usability -- and paid for that. Apple can do better, and I wish they would.
Summary
The "places" feature is buggy and does not allow naming pinpoint locations like the previous version.
Further, the <opt><cmd>F (full screen) feature is a joke. Nothing like in the previous version. I have only begun to test and I want to move back one version. -
"Wait for version 9.4 or 9.5. Stay with 8."
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
I have always used earlier versions of iPhoto and was very pleased with the ease of use. The photo comparison in 7 and 8 versions was great.
Cons
Can cause the entire screen image on a dual display to break up.
Force quitting iPhoto did not solve the problem.
Solution - restart the computer and use only iPhoto 8.Summary
Apparently apple is no longer focused on quality.
Or they want to encourage purchase of their Aperture program. -
"Big problem"
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
First time tried using iphoto /ater the version 8 (Tiger)
Cons
Crashes on opening..... hasn't opened yet after upgrading (mistake) after I started my NEW imac. Now what ?
-
"Nice update"
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
runs a bit faster
Cons
did not see a lot of change
Summary
ok
-
"Please wait it's not ready yet"
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
I spent a week
Cons
everything is con.
Summary
iPhoto 11 wiped out all of my events (now I have only one event) and it's going slow as molasses. I see a little spinning globe next to "Faces" and this is what I got. So - after all these days of getting the images installed into iPhoto11, now it is going to take 36 hours to catalog the faces. I think Apple should take this off the market. Look at the last line of the window below!
Faces makes it easy to find photos of your favorite people - should after 36 hours of cataloging! It should find faces of every individual in the world!
if you attempt to use this, wait until the forums are not on fire with people losing their images, faces, books, notes, etc. iPhoto 11 will completely pillage your old photo library, and even if you think you have a clean install, you won't know what it lost until you try batch searching or look up something else you did in the previous library. DO NOT GIVE THIS AS A HOLIDAY GIFT it will make the recipient sad. -
"Product won't install."
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
Product won't install.
Cons
Product won't install.
Summary
Won't install. Error message says that I need version 9 or better. I have version 9.
-
"Worst update ever"
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
I haven't found anything to like about this update.
Cons
Loss od images, loss of slideshows, broken UI, thoughtless email interface, loss of full screen side-by-side images comparison and much slower than the version it replaces.
Summary
This is, by far, the worst Apple upgrade I've ever encountered in my 29 years of using Apple products. I reverted back to iPhoto 8.1.2. See Cons for specifics.

"Upgrades are not everybody cup of tea."
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
Somethings are very usable other just bits in the wind.
Cons
Need more bit for the buck in adjustments to the program.
Summary
Great as far as it goes but it could go further.
-
"A little complicated and confusing"
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
Picture viewing is excellent
Cons
Too expensive! Can't even get a good dicount "upgrade" from iphoto '08. Dont feel comfortable to try with the iLife 11 yet.
Summary
Does not give a choice of 'delete' in the editing pane
-
"Skip this one"
Version: Apple iPhoto 9.1
Pros
None for most users
Cons
Has a habit of deleting random pictures from your library when upgrading from older versions of iPhoto
Summary
Unless iPhoto 9 has a feature you really, really can't live without, I'd skip iLife '11 which includes iPhoto 9. This thing is buggy, deletes random pictures from your library and just isn't worth the aggravation.
Make sure you have your iPhoto library reliably backed up before installing this upgrade. Apple's software QC has absolutely gone down the toilet of late...they may be making tons of money on iPhones, iPads, iPods and laptops but the attention to detail on software has definitely taken a back seat over the past year plus.
