    "Awesome Game"

    January 18, 2004  |   By Bid13

Version: America's Army: Special Forces 2.0.0a

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
    Hey All,

I have been playing Americas Army for over a year (since version 1.2). The game is awesome, all I can say.

You are playing in the army, of course the game is going to have violence, but it has very little blood (spray from headshots). The game is supposed to be team based, working together.

The game does have a few issues on some of the new maps. If your computer does not have a good enough graphics card, then your computer will run the new SF missions (SF Pipeline, Sandstorm, Csar, Hospital) at a very slow rate. But then you can turn around and play the other 17 awesome maps.

BTW: I hope the previous post meant 1.5 Gb RAM, and not Mb. Cause 1.5 mb ram on a PC is hell-a-little RAM.

Anyways, the features, graphics, support, and general stablity are awesome, especially when the game is free to the world. The price is perfect at $0!

If you complain about the violence of this game, then I suggest you don't go near Soldier of Fortune 2. 8v )

In the end, I recomend this game 100% for PC users, I don't know about Mac users... don't use Macs... but this game runs wonderfuly and is fun to play on PCs!

"Mac games can't get it together"

Version: America's Army: Special Forces 2.0.0a

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I know i'm going to shock and dismay some people that have posted here but i'm actually going to review the game.

It's slightly disconcerting that people seem to feel the need to apply their political grievances to a computer game, enough said about that.

The game itself is large, buggy, slow, takes up an enormous amount of space. I just don't understand why us Mac users can't have the same kinds of games that PC users enjoy? Battlefield 1942 is a far superior game and we don't even have anything that comes close to it.

I have a G4 1.42GHz with 1.5Mb RAM, you'd think that i wouldn't have a problem but the only way i could get it to run for more than 5 minutes was to bring down all the graphics options.

    Not reccomended.

Chill, kids. First off, it's free, and if you don't like it, don't download and play it. Second, (this is coming from a liberal non-Bush-loving citizen) this game is NOT propaganda. Yes, it does have Army logos here and there. Big whoop. This game is GOOD not because it promotes killing (there is no blood, body parts or massive frag-fests), but because it promotes working as a team, listening, following orders, using your head before you commit, and watching out for your buds. This game will PENALIZE you for behaving selfishly (read: no rambos!), disobeying orders, attacking your friends, foul language, and most other behavior that is self-serving and childish. Imagine it: an online community not overrun by immature brats that have figured out every which way to cheat (all 1 billion ways). Yes, cheating in AAO is VERY RARE. Exceedingly rare. All of this plus unparalelled realism (in combat, physics and weaponry) and alot more add up to the best miliary simulator you can get. And it's free. And it's fun. Why NOT like it?!

Wow! This game is sooooo awesome! I'm totally hooked! I wanna shoot bad guys like that in REAL LIFE!! I'm gonna join the Army now, and it's all because of this computer game!!! All my friends agree, we can't wait to kick some REAL TERRORIST BUTT! At first I wanted to be a theoretical-physicist, but now, psshh... I can't believe I ever found that remotely interesting! What I want to do now is KILL KILL KILL!!

I'm not responsible for your inability to interpret this correctly.

    "Very Fun Game"

    Summary

Forget the political, morality based and/or agenda driven comments... this is a game and... this game is a blast!

It is arguably the best multiplayer game of it's kind to EVER be made. The fact that it is free is just beyond me. If you like first person shooters in general and like playing against real people, you cannot find a better experience than America's Army.

OK, I will toss this in for the numerous politically motivated negative ratings. I am relatively liberal, despise George Bush et al. with a passion, think the war in Iraq is wrong and morally reprehensible and that our troops are being abused by the administration... and I still LOVE this game.

man the only reason you don't like this game is because the army made it, there are tons of other games that have the same idea but aren't made by the army. Rate the game, not the motives. Its a good game, I have fun playing it, first fps ive played with ranking.. and its good ranking, best since MythII. Its one more game we have for mac... AND ITS FREE. love this game, its made from the UT2003 engine!
