Version: Alleycode HTML Editor 1.2
Pros: I just want to tell people this is not a trial - it's a full free version - and you can download the latest version from the Alleycode website. I promise you I have no affiliation with them, it's just that personally I'm put off by trial versions and I only tend to use editors that are completely free. Well this one is completely free and it's the best one I've tried. It's not as fancy as some html editors, but I've tried the majority of the ones on this site (including trials) and Alleycode is by far my favourite. I began using Alleycode as a complete beginner at html, and I tried the 'quick-start' guide that they include with it. It taught me how to use their in-built css and table-wizards, and I found it really helpful. It has plenty of keyboard shortcuts and toolbar shortcuts too. Maybe it's just because I tried Alleycode first, but after using it I didn't feel comfortable with any of the other html editors I tried - and I'd only used Alleycode for a day at that point! I think it's extremely under-rated on this site, but maybe that's because it's classed as a trial and not a free editor with no limitations.
Cons: The only con I've found is that you can have a dual screen to show you a preview of what you've done so far, but this doesn't update as you type, so you have to keep stopping to refresh it. A lot of html editors I've tried don't even have dual screens though, so it's no real hardship.
