Version: All Video to VCD SVCD DVD Creator & Burner 3.3
"Decent program, despite what you would read otherwise."
Pros: It strikes me that all ten people who have had problems running this software couldn't resist the temptation to gripe about how bad it is, whereas the 90,000 people who have downloaded it and used their free allotment of 5 discs never even took a minute of their time to give it a good word. Let me just say that ten reviews for that many downloads is just mind-boggling and says volumes about people wanting something for nothing.
The thing that appealed to me initially is the 5 disc trial. Why would you ever download anything that only burns half the disc. I sifted through countless programs that have a restriction starting at just 10 seconds of video!
The VCD video video quality, though not on par with DVD quality, is still very decent for folks like me who still use a picture tube television. You have to remember to use videos that are at least the same or better resolution than the monitor you're using. It's not like the resolution will improve.
The processing time is long, but no more so than other programs of the sort which I have used. For me, it took about a minute for each minute of video to go through the entire process from conversion to burning a VCD.
Another thing I like is the ease of use. The entire process takes just a few clicks at the beginning. After selecting the videos, all you have to do is click "Burn." You don't have to sit at your computer through the entire process and babysit it, saying "Yes" and "No" through every mundane detail like most Microsoft products. As soon as the conversion is finished, assuming there's a blank CD in the drive, it starts the burning process automatically. It doesn't say, "Duh, I'm finished converting the file and I found a blank CD in your CD burner, do you want me to start burning the disc? Duh!"
Don't be fooled by the two-star review. Only 12 people so far took the time to review this software.
