A bare-bones tool for reading aloud Web pages or computer documents, this utility does its job without standout features. The tool uses Microsoft's text-to-speech engine to read aloud documents, but can also save text into MP3 or OGG files to save on a different device, for later playback. In our tests, it took about five minutes to save a 100 page document this way. The program's interface is fairly straightforward, but lacks some useful navigation tools. It allows users to select text in any document, and press Ctrl C to have it read aloud. We also like the Internet Explorer toolbar that lets users instantly listen to any Web page. However, the software forces listeners to finish a selected bit of text before allowing them to move to a new segment and contains no obvious tools for skipping between sentences or paragraphs. On the whole, Alive Text to Speech does its basic job well, but it lacks the creative craftsmanship and extra features that would separate it from the pack.Publisher's description
From AliveMedia :Alive Text to Speech allows you to convert text files to MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG, or VOX files with a single right click. Just right click on files in the Windows Explorer, select "Convert to MP3" (or WAV, OGG, WMA, and VOX), and convert them using your predefined settings. Alive Text to Speech also enables you to listen documents, e-mail, news articles, or Web pages without conversion. It supports schedule converting and allows advanced users to finish conversions with command lines. You can change the different voices and the readout speed for conversion or listening, and download more voices from the Internet.

Version: Alive Text to Speech 5.3.3.8
"Am I missing something here? Why the high rating?"
Pros: Can' t find anything positive as yet; I'll just uninstall it and try another.
Cons: The voice you hear when you listen is totally different from the recorded voice. Very little flexibility in adjusting speed and pitch of voice. No pause button. No option to name the output file - they are all saved as "Alive Text To Speech.mp3
I refuse to purchase any more software I cannot fully test.
