From COR Entertainment :Alien Arena 2009 is a multiplayer online deathmatch game based on the GPL id source code. This game features incredibly smooth and fast game play with next-generation engine features such as shaders, real-time per-pixel and per-vertex lighting and shadows, lensflares, light bloom, weather, and GLSL shader effects. The game includes over 60 levels, nine weapons (with alt-fire modes), six player characters, mutaters, six game play modes, and an in-game server browser. With modes like Team Core Assault, Cattle Prod, Duel, Deathball, Capture the Flag, and All Out Assault, Alien Arena has an endless replayability factor. Version 7.30 includes new maps, new models, new textures, and major engine enhancements. The renderer has been extensively rewritten and now uses GLSL per-pixel lighting shaders on all game surfaces.

Pros: Great graphics and sound
Cons: Its just too fast, I get into the game, and before I can move more than 10 feet I am killed.... Not my idea of fun at all...
Summary: If you like frustration, this is the game for you.

Pros: Great graphics and gameplay, LOTS of maps to play on & new maps available frequently, & easy to upgrade. Every aspect of the game is free.
Also, for designers & mappers, the programs used to make the characters & maps are available in the forum.Cons: ??? Can't think of any at the moment.

"cool freeware game that challenges the 'paid for' games"
Pros: its fast, it looks great, nice community, tons of levels, lot of improvements
and really challenges the commercial games.Cons: hmmm, havent found any yet, but there sure is something...?
Summary: i recommend any fps player to download this game and give it a
serious try. and dont give up if you get owned by another player.

"most attractive game ever of all genres"
Pros: Nice gameplay and game modes. Friendly community. Reasonably good graphics. Not too GPU intensive (even for IGPs),
Cons: Some bugs to be fixed.
Summary: Almost perfect game (aside from eye candy)
