Editors' reviewLike its predecessor, this shoot-em-up game boasts excellent graphics and action-packed gameplay. True to it's name, AirStrike II: Gulf Thunder appears to be set in the Persian Gulf. You must use your fully armed helicopter to destroy your foes and successfully complete a number of missions. Though blowing other aircraft to smithereens is your primary goal, you also must keep a sharp eye out for various bonuses that can repair your helicopter or give you more powerful weapons. In our opinion, this game's 3D graphics--especially the explosions--are top-notch, and the sound effects and theme music are right on the money. However, because some of the levels have a dark overall tint, it can be tough to see your foes; you may want to use the built-in brightness control to make things easier on the eyes. Learning to control your aircraft while using your weapons takes a while to perfect, but you can change the keyboard layout if you have a better idea. You also can choose from several missions, disable the audio, select the difficulty level, or choose to play with your mouse. Our main gripe with this game is the one-hour trial period--it seems a bit too parsimonious. Nevertheless, all fans of shooting games, particulary war-based titles, should at least take AirStrike II: Gulf Thunder for a test flight.
AirStrike II: Gulf Thunder is a fresh sequel to AirStrike II, arguably the most exciting 3D indie helicopter combat action game ever released. The new add-on has 24 new levels and requires whole lot of desert flying. The battle scene is littered with burning oil barrels and is packed with industrial objects where sneaky terrorist land units can hide to give them unfair advantage. The difficulty level has been increased. Free Download. Version 2.7 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
