This isn't the most feature-packed Windows-optimization utility, nor the most effective, but we found it one of the easiest to control. Advanced WindowsCare's simple interface offers two main options: Repair and Repair And Optimize. The former fixes Registry entries and cleans out your operating system. The latter does the same thing and tweaks Windows for maximum performance.

If you run into trouble, the Restoration option can return your system to its original configuration. The Advanced menu provides fine control over repairs and optimizations. On the downside, we noticed only one improvement on our test PC: a reduced amount of used RAM. Also, the program's brief descriptions of system problems may not satisfy seasoned users. And although the latest version of the app includes a help file, we wouldn't call it extensive.

Nevertheless, if your system is running sluggishly and you're considering reinstalling Windows, it wouldn't hurt to try this freeware package first.

    "Use it and Love it"

by SoftNeo on December 6, 2006

Pros: I have been using this freebie from its v1. I wrote to IObit support for new Windows issue. Their reply: A new Windows does not mean: it is error-free and it is full optimized.

During the installation of Windows 2000/XP, many drivers and software are also installed, leaving lots of useless registry entries and junk files in your new system. Microsoft does not clean them for you all the installation but Advanced WindowsCare can deal with them.

Microsoft does not know your type and how you use your PC. Windows was designed for multi-purposes using, not your own type, such as gaming and surfing Internet. Advanced WindowsCare knows what your computer needs and knows where it has to tinker to speed things up.

Cons: I always send my feedback and suggestions to them.

    "same old"

    by syib4u on November 23, 2006

Pros: Quick and easy; Registry fix, additional spy ware remover, start menu evaluation, system optimize, security defense evaluation, etc FREE

Cons: Registry fix takes out presets for Picture Sound show and for some media & random screen savers apps I've noticed, while unchecking the file in the remove list is difficult as they are hard to find. No big problem really. For me it's easily restored stuff. You might want to uncheck to save your history for quick access in the run menu for example, or not as it's also no big thing, (for me anyway).

    "Excellent Complete Comprehensive Windows "Fix""

by planetrj on November 24, 2006

Pros: I've read many complex and often incomprehensible explanations and reasoning for various MS Windows repair/cleaners, and so I have decided to post in very simple terms for those who are not-so savvy on computers.

IObit offers WindowsCare 2 is a very simple and easy tool to use which can clean up your registry, perform virtually any 'fixes' which may cause your computer to run slowly, perform sweeps on temp files, privacy, and even find holes and leaks in your system's security.

All of these are available in many products, but I do not believe all of the items that WindowsCare 2 offers are in one single tool, which in my mind means less time executing files and waiting for one to finish then open another to begin.

IObit offers a free personal version, and is well worth trying out a few times. You have the ability to backup your registry as well, so if you make a mistake (or the program does), you may use your previous

configuration, should anything get messed up.

I have installed the personal version on four of my co-worker's computers, both of my sister's computers, and all three of my computers, and find it very helpful all around for the expert to the novice.

Cons: So far, I have not experienced any issues with the program, and if anything, my computer had over 3,000 issues fixed, and is now opening new windows faster than it has in over 6 months.

(They do also offer a free "Smart Defrag", which is another cool tool to use, but sticking to the main issue here).

"A little too thorough, but in response to last review.."

    by iLLaDeLpHiA76 on December 3, 2006

Pros: I think that this is a solid program that absolutely offers more overall features and control than mostly any similar applications that would provide you with a 30-day trial at best. The fact is that this program does a lot of the things that programs I have downloaded and paid for in the past had the capabilities to do and then some. However, with that being said, ESPECIALLY when it comes to scanning and fixing problems with your registry, be ABSOLUTELY certain that you simply have the program retain a backup of your registry "as-is" before proceeding. I have seen both sides of this very thorough program. One side found a TON of problems, corrected those problems and had my system running 10 times better. Now luckily, because of past experience with registry cleaners, I ALWAYS backup my registry before scanning or messin with it at all. The reason is that if you either are not too tech-saavy, know what each "unclean" registry found actually is, OR even if you are someone that knows their stuff, there are times that even someone with a fairly strong knowledge of what should and should not be "fixed" could miss a particular file that they would not want deleted. I have had a time where the registry cleaner simply fixed waaay too much and made certain programs not respond correctly, even though the system was running more quickly. However, instead of being a panic situation, I had simply restored the backup and used a different program to handle registry issues. Everything else in the program has been working more than fine, especially for something that is actually free to its users. Actually, it is comparable to a lot of programs that are paid beyond a short trial, so I would recommend this to anyone with the above precautions.

Cons: As mentioned, the registry scanner is not the MOST accurate and can at times be too thorough. However, in response to the last person that posted regarding the amount of errors discovered right out of the box, what kind of computer did you get? Also, not to totally disagree or doubt your concerns by the results you received, but I have found that MANY more machines that you would expect to be clean as a whistle, not only have components that could easily be read as spyware, especially if even the slightest Internet surfing was done...but I can certainly understand why other errors or software were detected as potential junk. I don't know about most people's experiences, but unless you truly customize every aspect of the computer you choose to purchase from the hardware to the specific software that is and is not to be installed on that system, most ALL computers come LOADED with junk that you don't need and that you will either NEVER use and will sit there or that you will remove on your own anyway. Again, maybe your errors were a bit beyond this possibility, but I would certainly be curious as to what particular programs and/or files had been detected by this software. I realize that this is not necessarily a con from my end, but something that I would be curious to learn and follows along the one negative I did have with this software.

However, for now, overall, I think it is one of the best options out there if you are not looking to pay. If you ARE looking to pay, I have had success with AusLogics defrag and speed booster softwares.......
