This spyware remover looks good, offering security fundamentals but its efficacy is hard to judge on a clean or already-secure system. Advanced System Protector aims to rid your machine of spyware and malware, and it's generally a pretty thing to watch. The interface has a classy bar of tabs across the top, although the central pane feels a bit cluttered by deviating from the design scheme with a big, green Start Scan Now button.
Below that there are three choices for the type of scan: Quick, Deep, and Custom. The Quick scan took about 23 minutes, while the Custom scan lets you opt out of Cookies, Memory, Registry, and Files and Folders, or select specific folders and files to toss in the pot. Advanced System Protector is sensitive enough to pick up tracking cookies, although there didn't seem to be a method for fine-tuning that. The scheduler was surprisingly impressive, allowing for scans daily, once, and variations in-between. You can configure the program to run at startup, to update definition files automatically, and create a whitelist of files to never scan.
However, Advanced System Protector lacks an integrated antivirus component, which more and more solo malware battlers are now building in from the get-go. The real-time shields components are also kept behind a deadbolt unless you upgrade to the paid version. Overall, program runs well for what it can do and shouldn't be hard to use.

Version: Advanced System Protector Personal Edition 2.0.323.1836
"Thorough. Easy to understand and use"
Pros: Finds TONS of threats. I clean PCs for friends that are un operable just for the challenge of getting them running like new and to learn. This program is a godsend.
Cons: Starts at boot by default. (Stoppable under Settings tab / Scan Settings) Deep scan takes a while to run. Updates are large.
Summary: I loved this program the first time I used it on a plugged PC. Ran 4 scans from other good programs and they found a lot of stuff. Then I downloaded/ran Advanced System Protector... 668 more nasty's. After that, the system ran like a top.

"As far as I am concerned it's a kind of malware itself"
Pros: Very attractive looking, with strong claims of effectiveness.
Cons: Cannot be stopped from launching with Windows.
Summary: Before installing this I researched it quite a bit. Intended use: manually perform a full scan once a week (otherwise protect my Vista laptop with other, always-on, antimalware programs). I saw one online writer use it exactly that way, so have been... read more >>

Pros: There are no pro's!
Cons: It finds no malware while other programs I use do!

"Looks & works good. System goes down, it looses it all!"
Pros: The way it looks, runs, gets updates & doesn't bog the system down either during a scan or update.
Cons: If the system goes down, it loses all the updates, settings and data!!! It can also get knocked out!!!
Summary: I like it and yet I don't like it because of it's "instability" at times. WHY does it lose it's updated data (signatures) and the like? It always goes back to the date it was installed, and doesn't "remember" anything after that! Strange.

Version: Advanced System Protector Personal Edition 2.0.323.1836
Pros: Even on "Quick Scan", it was not fast, but did not take 6 hours. It did find over 100 threats, but they were not "Severe" threats. Will do a complete scan later and see if it finds any "severe" threats. But it could mean that I am well protected.
Cons: So far there are not cons. There could be down the road, but for now as I said, unless you have an infection, you may never know how well something works.
Summary: Works pretty good
