This helpful encryption tool is listed as version three, but Advanced File Security is still in beta and some functions are disabled. Easily browse or drag and drop files onto Advanced File Security's functional interface. It's also integrated with Windows to encrypt/decrypt items via a right-click.
AFS3 utilizes passwords, key extensions, and the secure Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) to encrypt your documents, though we wish there were other alternatives. To help maintain security, AES3 can be easily set to automatically delete sources after every encryption/decryption task. Advanced File Security does encrypt/decrypt an entire folder with a single password/command, though it saves the files individually under the folder. One caveat: be sure to key in the exact passwords and/or key extensions, as you won't be able to decrypt files without the appropriate combinations. It neither has a secure login nor builds self-decrypting files, so your recipients must also install this program.
Despite the freeware status, some features are still disabled. Help is not available from within the program, but AES3 adds a program menu shortcut to help. Overall, most casual computer users will find this easy-to-operate application suitable for their encryption needs.
