PC users often upgrade their hardware to get the most out of new games. Many Mac users, on the other hand, view Photoshop as the litmus test for hardware performance. While technically an image editor, this program contains an endless selection of drawing tools, filters, color adjustment capabilities, and other tools designed to manipulate images in almost any way. Photoshop incorporates raster and vector drawing tools, allowing you to work with bitmap images and scalable graphics at the same time.
Though it's an excellent software tool, the trial version demands a lot of time to download, a lot of hard drive space, and a lot of RAM for rendering and other heavy tasks. In addition, the trial version is save-, print-, and export-disabled, which limits your ability to assess this expensive product. Photoshop also has a high learning curve, so great results take time and training.

Version: Adobe Photoshop CS
"Really great. But how about some help?"
Pros: Photoshop is AWESOME. It has made my life more exciting. Seriously. I really enjoy using it. I didn't even realize all that was possible in photo editing until I started playing around with this.
Cons: It's a bit hard to figure this program out without taking a class. I think there should be a more helpful User's Guide, or a Tip Sheet or something.
