"Very Happy With V7 and Now V8"
Version: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0
Pros
I find this program very user friendly. I am an amateur photographer and regularly us PSE to manage, edit and manipulate photo's for all sorts of reasons. I run this with WIN 7 on a reasonably fast Dell laptop
Cons
None that I haven't caused myself
Summary
Have no problems with the program at all. One of the reasons I also find it easy to use is that Digital Photo magazine out of UK (To which I subscibe) do all thier work inPSE and provide regular commentary on what and how they do things. Have already recommended this software to other photo buddies

"So bad that I uninstalled it and returned to PSE 6.0"
Version: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0
Pros
None since I cannot get past the difficult interface.
Cons
Upgrading from PSE 3.0 to PSE 6.0 was a cinch. But upgrading from PSE 6.0 to PSE 8.0 was a BEAR! I wanted Elements to make the job easier, 8.0 defeated this purpose.
Summary
Steep, steep, steep learning curve. If 8.0 has great features I couldn't reach them. I bought PSE 3.0 and 6.0 for ease of use and they triumphed. 8.0 fell flat on its face.

"Worst photo software EVER"
Version: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0
Pros
There is NOTHING of merit in this product.....unless you are looking to have a quick mental breakdown by using it.
Cons
It is slower than watching paint drying. Freezes more than South Pole. Paid £70 for this. If anyone out there is even thinking of purchasing this ..........DON'T. Even their own trouble shooting gives advice if it freezes.....this says it all.
Summary
DO NOT BUY. DO NOT BUY. DO NOT BUY.

"It crashes more than I could think of."
Version: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0
Pros
Very convenient and lots of bells and whistles for the amateur, and quite powerfull for the experienced photographer.
Cons
Crashes too often and very unstable with different tools: Letters and gradiant
Summary
If I knew the problems involved with it I would wait and try some other software.
Too bad I read this evaluation too late! I already bought it and I am quite desapointed!!!
In a way I am happy with all the work it can do, and in a way I am desapointed of all the bugs I am faced with.

"Slower than 7.0 and crashes often"
Version: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0
Pros
Enables you to place video clips into a slideshow which wasn't possible in earlier versions. Corrects some bugs in 7.0, e.g. when you delete pictures 7.0 sometimes jumped to the 1st photo in the Organizer which was very annoying.
Cons
Slower than 7.0. Crashes even more than 7.0 which crashed often. 8.0 didn't translate the Catalog from 7.0 so I had to find and import all my old pictures manually. It can't place .MOV files into a slideshow.
Summary
Unless you need to incorporate movies into slideshows (as I do) I would skip this upgrade. Slower than 7.0. Crashes even more than 7.0 which crashed often. 8.0 supposedly translates the Catalog from 7.0 but didn't do that for me which meant that I had to find and import all my old pictures manually. It has corrupted QuikTime which is needed to view videos twice so far and I've had to reinstall it - I've only been using 8.0 for a week or so. It can't place .MOV files into a slideshow so I needed to change them into .wmv files.

Cons

"Trial destroys previous installs of Elements"
Version: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0
Pros
Has more bells and wistles then previous versions.
Cons
Dark grey screen has hard to see menues. It was not worth it to upgrade from version 4.
Summary
When I installed the Trial version it trashed my previous version 4. When I uninstalled the trial I could not reinstall the legal and registered version I owned. No help has been available thus far. I have yet to get version 4 to work. I have yet to get support. This is a big company, they don't care, they don't have to.
