Version: Adobe Captivate 5
"The Best Software in It's Category"
Pros: The features this software offers cannot be matched by anyother in its category. The interface is neat. The recording options are too cool and the ability to export the output files in a variety of files is perhaps the best part.
Cons: The already drawback is its price!

Version: Adobe Captivate 5
"not a release but a beta version"
Pros: theoratical features (integration with flash, small file sizes, editable mouse paths); hopefully Macromedia will work on it!
Cons: often crashes, captured mouse paths sometimes do not fit to the background, mouse paths can't be created manually, not very intuitive, slow (even on P4 3GHz HT)

Version: Adobe Captivate 5
Pros: Macromedia adds a strong and needed component to an otherwise beefy line up featuring Dreamweaver, ColdFusion, Flash, etc. Captivate is an extremely easy to use, yet powerful tool used to create demonstrations, screen captures to make documentation, traiing materials and now with the ability to edit inside of a timeline, something missing from Robodemo versions, you can work for hours, make one little mistake and now just edit the mistake instead of redoing all your work! The tools output options are second to none and its stability is excellent.
Cons: More professional transitions, effects and such would always make a tool like this more enjoyable and personalizable.

"Not a tool for recording demos"
Pros: This product promises many functionalities that other similar software does not.
Cons: Wow! This was the first time I was really disappointed with a software from Adobe. I downloaded the trial and tested out the recording functionality. It is awful. The playback is slow, mouse paths and movement were so incorrect. I've used ScreenFlash 2 years ago, and the recording feature is way superior than this piece of crap. I hope the other features actually works. I am so disappointed I don't even want to try the other Captivate's tools.

Version: Adobe Captivate 5
"Very cost-effective tool for SW demos and simulations"
Summary: I've been researching these kinds of tools for an instructional design project. Captivate does the most for a very good price. You can pay upwards of $1500 for these kinds of features/functionality.
