"Adobe still can't get updates right."
Version: Adobe Acrobat 9.4
Pros
The update just didn't work, so at least it didn't crash my computer.
Cons
The last 4 updates have refused to install on my machine. The installer tells me that something has been modified and that I need to re-install it. Numerous forum entries indicate that this is a fairly common problem that Adobe can't/won't fix.
Summary
You would think that, after 9 major versions, and countless minor ones, Adobe could figure out how to write a software update module, or hire someone that can.

"Works as well as 9.3 but no improvements for users."
Version: Adobe Acrobat 9.4
Pros
Security update supposedly makes it less vulnerable. Works as "well" as 9.3
Cons
Still slow and awkward, does not work with the Print to PDF feature in Adobe apps. Still no error message when it fails to "Save to PDF"... Still broken in Snow Leopard.

"Adobe's update process is abyssmally flawed"
Version: Adobe Acrobat 9.4
Pros
When it works correctly, Acrobat is fabulous.
Cons
Adobe imposes so many system-level restrictions that it is impossible to do simple things like updates. When every previous patch worked fine and the current one doesn't, I shouldn't have to reinstall the entire application.
Summary
Adobe licensing is a perpetual stumbling block. Uninstall an app without first deactivating the serial number, and the reinstallion can't be done. The result is that Adobe has to send a separate app to clean out all the residual data before the reinstallation can be done and, on more than one occasion, the original serial number did not work, requiring more intervention by Adobe. So that notion that a non-working patch might require jumping through this many hoops is decidedly user-unfriendly.

"Doesn't seem to like PitStop Pro 09 update 1"
Version: Adobe Acrobat 9.4
Pros
None, except the security update is nice, I suppose
Cons
Doesn't seem to like PitStop Pro 09 update 1
Summary
Be careful if you have PitStop from Enfocus.

"The inane Adobe update path boggles the mind!"
Version: Adobe Acrobat 9.4
Pros
I use this app in a professional capacity and couldn't be without it. There is nothing around that really touches Acrobat as far as working with PDF goes. especially when paired with Pitstop and some of the Quite plugs.
Cons
Why does a company the size of Adobe produce updates that can only update the last incremental version? It can't be that difficult to write an updater to install everything new since the last x.0 version. Loads of other companies can - big and small.
