CNET Editors' review
Adobe's Acrobat PDF creator is the industry standard, and with good reason. A comprehensive list of powerful tools, combined with a work environment capable of handling huge files and a well-designed interface make it the go-to program for PDFs.
Some of the newer features that impressed us include a range of annotation options; password and encryption for security; several signature preferences for making digital documents more official; automatically recognizing form fields; the ability to download entire Web sites and import them as PDFs; support for complex AutoCAD drawings; and a well-designed icon-based wizard to help the user figure out how to get it all done. You won't find any talking paper clips here.
Surprisingly, the biggest drawback isn't Acrobat's high price tag. To download the trial version, the user must register and fill out a survey at Adobe's Web site. Then you must wait for an e-mail to arrive with a link to the installer, which weighs in at 269MB and takes about 15 minutes to install.
All told, the process takes a half hour and is counterintuitive to the point of a trial version. If you need Acrobat's power, it's definitely worth a test drive. If you're a casual or occasional PDF creator, the unwieldy trial isn't likely worth the extra time and effort.

"more like adobe spaz"
Version: Adobe Acrobat Professional 8
Pros
it doesn't actually blind; it seems content to induce migraines instead.
Cons
continually demands upgrades in ads, rarely legible, interferes with other programs infallibly...
Summary
basically, suicide inducing.

"Was good but not anymore."
Version: Adobe Acrobat Professional 8
Pros
Used to be an amazing program, and part of my CS3.
Cons
Seems right after CS5 hit the shelves, it died a bit each time I tried to DL and/or open/read/edit an existing PDF through it.
Summary
It's nearly completely useless now. Shame, that. I've written/edited entire eBooks in the Acro8 Pro format. I think for the price it should be more stable.I don't feel like getting a newer version, if it's just going to disintegrate in performance like this one has.
