Despite the ongoing efforts of browser developers, adware and pop-up ads continue to annoy the Web surfer. But this little Internet Explorer add-on will help reclaim the pop-up-free Web-browsing experience you remember from the golden age of the Internet. Or at the very least, reduce the aggravating intrusion of unwanted advertising.
AdBlocker Pro installs an unobtrusive icon--a small green shield--on both your IE toolbar and the IE status bar. We were able to configure it by clicking either icon, which we found handy for folks who may want to rely on accessing ad-blocking tools from a location other than an already-cluttered toolbar. In our tests, we found configuring the tool a very simple process, enabling us to specify at which sites the tool should kill pop-up and flash ads. We also liked the filter log, which listed the blocked items from the sites we visited.
AdBlocker Pro performed well in our tests, and we were pleased with its generous trial period, which should allow any user time enough to decide whether to register and purchase the tool. You can probably find similar blockers with more bells and whistles, but we liked the simplicity AdBlocker Pro offers. We wish it were available for other browsers beside IE, but maybe a future version will offer that option.

"The best Ad blocking software out there"
Pros: Back in the days of Windows 95 and 98 I used little program called Popup Stopper. Win XP offered IE with automatic popup blocking. This would be all good but the new ads are Java and ActiveX based and sneakier than ever before; a simple popup stopper isn't enough. As a solution I used XP-Antispy freeware to disable Java and ActiveX before entering certain websites. It was a time-consuming procedure but it worked OK and effectively stopped nasty ads and self-installing spyware.
I discovered Adblock Pro by accident. My friend's PC had corrupted Windows and IE installation: Java and ActiveX wouldn't disable on it. It wasn't bad enough to waste the time on a full reinstall; so I just wanted to find some good Ad blocking software instead. Now, this is the third week my friend and I are using Adblock Pro v.2.6 and I have been nothing but most impressed with how effective, intuitive, small and overall perfect it is. For a tiny program (little over 300KB) it offers tremendous options and works like a magic. It has a little counter in the lower right corner of the webpage to show how many ads it stopped. On some websites it shows as many as 20 ads blocked! Highly recommended.

A rip-off of a free Firefox ad onSummary: This guy is trying to make money from people who think this is like the Ad Block Plus extension for Firefox. It's not.
