Version: Active Undelete 5.1.012
Cons: Looked good when I tried the free product. I pulled up all of my deleted files. So I purchased the product for $39.95. I recovered all of my files and none of them worked because they were all corrupt. I tried contacting tecnnical support three times (they never answer the phone), so left a voice mail. I have never heard back from them. I have also gone to their website and contacted them twice and haven't heard anything back from them. I have emailed the company and asked for a refund and you can bet that I will never hear from them. I have even called the company's main line and no one answers there either. I think they're a rip off company that takes your money and doesn't support their product! Unfortunately they're in Canada so those of us in the US can't do much about it if we use a check card, which is what I did.

"Not nearly as good as others"
Pros: Interface is OK.
Cons: It was able to recover some files, but I ended up using another package to recover 50% more. Customer support was non-responsive - took my money and never heard from them again. Definitely check out others before you buy based on star rating!

"Excellent software, easy to use & more importantly... it worked a treat on RAID"
Pros: I was pleasantly surprised when a quick scan managed to find all of the files which I needed and was able to recover all of my data within a few hours.
I am very, very happy!!!

Version: Active Undelete 5.1.012
"This is a wonderful software! It works!"
Pros: One night, I accidentally deleted four movie files (TV news files) from my notebook, recorded by an external Compro U800 TV box device. I searched DOWNLOAD dot com for a recovery application and I tried about 5 or 6 all together. Only two are user-friendly and can easily show up the deleted files in them, one of which is Active Undelete and the another one works but costs more than $100(as far as I remember). The rest just do not work (or there is a way to make it work but I just did not understand how to make it work!). I found that the Active Undelete not just costs reasonable but also very easy to operate (at least I could see the four deleted big files there!), so, I paid immediately online by VISA and immediately I could download the full version which has no limitation in recovery. I deleted the demo version and installed the paid version, just ran the simple recovery as before(there is a thorough DETAILED recovery process which takes longer time), then chose the files and clicked the button to start recovering and that was it. It took about 50 minutes to recover the 4 big movie files which come up in 1.4 G in total. Amazing! I became a happy man again. $39.95 is quite reasonable and their support is good too: I recently wrote them an e-mail about the new update and they answered my e-mail the same day. This software payment semms to be a lifelong payment and future upgrade is free, I believe.
Highly recommended. For those using a notebook, I also recommend Kaspersky (antivirus) and PolderbitS Sound Recorder (for digitizing your music cassette and LP), and Free Registry Fix (for a safer registry cleanup - you know, some mess about and clean even the things you need!).
Cons: None. At least I have not found any one yet. Ignore those criticise this software without any reasons given. They could either do not own one themselves or are from Active Undelete's competitors.
