"Has many bugs, needs big improvement."

      May 31, 2014   |   By Reshiram

Version: Acronis True Image 2014 2014

      Pros

      nonstop-backup feature.

      Backup encryption.

      Incremental version backups.

      bootable media.

      Cons

Bad, No GUI improvement after major updates, Low fps on progress bar.

Backups easily corrupt even cancle validation.

Bootable media won't detect optimal resolution. user have to set manually by setting "vga=ask"

Bootable media won't launch if user delete "quiet" command when creating Media.

No error messages if backup file is corrupt during Partition recovery. Progress windows crashes. and the partition will gone user need to create another partition manually.

Integrated in to Windows explorer by default, causing some explorer crashes or even whole system freeze.

      Summary

When I lost all my data, I trusted Acronis to recover my files. but backups are partically damaged and Acronis cannot recover it. so all of my backup copy is useless.

'm glad I tried this software before I purchase.

"WARNING: THIS SOFTWARE WILL DAMAGE YOUR COMPUTER"

      March 31, 2014   |   By steve001968

Version: Acronis True Image 2014 2014

      Pros

None. Nothing but problems with it and it's horrible customer services (which is chat only) to date.

      Cons

Garbage, absolute garbage that will DAMAGE YOUR COMPUTER.

      Summary

Sortware has a recovery environment that can be selected at bootup. The bootloader for this recovery environment which is only suppose to run if user selected at the normal startup choice of operating system has taken over the boot process and will not allow the machine to boot. After multiple issues with this software I consider it no better than a virus. Further Acronis then demands money to help fix the problem since they only support their VIRUS for 30 days. AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS! IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR COMPUTER!

"Tip - get this free if you have a Western Digital Drive"

      March 03, 2014   |   By HeavenlyBeverley

Version: Acronis True Image 2014 2014

      Pros

Anyone who is thinking of getting this, you should know that if your hard drive is Western Digital you get this for free. Just go to the Western Digital site. And if you have a Seagate or Maxtor hard drive you get the Seagate DiscWizard for free (I think it'sa slightly older version, not sure but it is the Acronis True Image software).
This is undoubtedly one of the best (paid for) disc imaging progs around, and still going strong. I actually reboot to a clean system every time then I know, 100%, that there is nothing dodgy in my system. Yeah, it takes a bit longer, but it's nowhere near as long (and annoying) as constantly fighting viruses, malware, trojans etc. I just set up an external drive to save stuff I download to, otherwise that would disappear on reboot. About once a week I allow it to install all the updates etc that my pc needs and then make a new image (which doesn't take long as it's incremental).

      Cons

A lot of people couldn't bebothered to set up a system like mine, but it works for me. I think it's worth it just to know that no matter what crap goes down on my PC it's just a matter of restarting. You do need to have a system though or you'll end up restarting and losing important stuff. You could use a virtual system reboot and restore system but they are not as invulnerable as a true image.

      Summary

Very good software ... I started using it when Norton Ghost fizzled out. Make sure you undertand what you are doing though (ie MBR and partitions) or it could all end in tears.

"Acronis Creates 2 full backup before doing incremental."

      January 13, 2014   |   By LexStarwind

Version: Acronis True Image 2014 2014

      Pros

I think I know what the problem is. I was having that same issue. If you configure a custom backup and select the "Keep first full backup" setting, Acronis will create 2 full backups before starting the incremental backups. I believe is is because the first full backup will never be deleted, the second one can be deleted if you configure it to only keep a certain number of backup chains. So let's say you tell Acronis to only keep 3 backups in a chain and never delete the first full backup. The second full backup will be deleted after 3 incrementals. The first full backup will never be deleted. Hope that helps.

      Cons

Backups over the network are unbelievably slow. I've seen people in forums describing 500 GB backups taking a little over an hour but my 2 TB backup takes like 3 days. Not sure why such a large increase in time from what everyone else is seeing.

"Zero stars - horrible product and zero support!"

      January 09, 2014   |   By jzami

Version: Acronis True Image 2014 2014

      Pros

      None, it's less than worthless.

      Cons

Did full backup, next backup was supposed to be incremental. It tried to do a full again. NO WAY TO CHANGE IT!

      Summary

Tried contacting Acronis NON-SUPPORT 10 times! No phone support. No chat support. NOTHING!

      "Waste of money and time"

      January 02, 2014   |   By barisdemiray

Version: Acronis True Image 2014 2014

      Pros

None found. Oh sorry it can send a notification e-mail after creating suspicious and invalid backup files (read below).

      Cons

I don't know where to start, here is my story with Acronis from the moment I bought to the moment I asked a full refund and told them not to call me or e-mail me ever again,

      - I payed almost 30 dollars to this tool
      - I created a scheduled backup and configured it to not to keep any backup older than 14 days (called Auto Cleanup in Acronis jargon)
      - After Acronis created 21 backup files (yep, it means it didn't delete anything) I decided to get support
      - Support people said it is perfectly normal and if I want I could delete them manually
      - I deleted them manually and Acronis still told me that there are 21 versions, so it can't even sense that those files are gone
      - Then computer freezes came, in every 2-3 backup
      - And after every freeze Acronis kept creating further backup files without validating the past files
      - I changed the setting from Auto Cleanup to Auto Consolidation and it created some files with strange names, support people told that they are not supposed to be there.

      Summary

      - And one day, of course, there was no disk space anymore, so I decided to delete everything again (I'm losing past versions of my work here, once more) and clicked "Delete backup profile with all the files"
      - A small notification appeared: "Deleting backup..."
      - ...
      - ...
      - Almost an hour later it was still there "Deleting backup..." and there was NOT one single file deleted. And that window is not clickable anymore so you can do nothing but wait
      - Then I wanted to do something nasty, just to see how crappy this software really is and unplugged my external drive (where my backup files reside according to my backup settings)
      - And you know what it said? Any wild guess? Yep, that's right, it said "Deleting backup..."!!

THIS IS A BACKUP TOOL THAT WAS NOT EVEN TESTED FOR AN UNPLUGGED EXTERNAL DRIVE!

I sent an e-mail to Acronis people, told them what happened and not to call me again (oh dear, they are so eager to call you and steal your time) and to make a full refund to the given PayPal account.

I'm a software developer with almost 10 years of experience, I'm telling you. I have never seen such an untested tool that is being sold for such prices. And never forget that you're paying this tool to keep your precious data safe, which is soo questionable.

      "This Is NOT Free!"

      November 20, 2013   |   By intheether

Version: Acronis True Image 2014 2014

      Pros

It may work great, but I'll never know.

      Cons

As one can plainly see, it is "Free to try." After 30 days it will no longer function unless one forks over $49.99. Deceptive advertising!!

      "A tool with great potential"

      November 15, 2013   |   By brown121210

Version: Acronis True Image 2014 2014

      Pros

Great recovery potential, which saved my life more than once. Acronis fully restores the whole system even if you have backed it up in the cloud. Another good thing - the pricing for cloud makes sense, not too expensive to put your whole digital life out there. Great UI.

      Cons

I would speed up the recovery process if it was possible. I'm always looking for more speed and get impatient when the software is slower than I want it to be.

      Summary

this software is worth trying and using, as it has proved to be 100% reliable for me and my family
