From StepWare :AceReader Pro is an educational speed-reading software product. Learn to read faster both on and off your computer by practicing to read in Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) and Tachistoscopic Scroll Presentation (TSP) modes. In RSVP mode, the words come to your eyes instead of your eyes going to the words. In TSP mode, your eyes are forced to move in normal fashion but at preset speeds. AceReader Pro will help you determine your current reading level and will help you become a better or faster reader. It comes complete with reading/comprehension tests and drills that are broken down by grade levels. Test results are logged and can be viewed graphically so you can track your progress. It's designed for use by all ages. It can be used to rapidly read and skim text found in documents and your clipboard, which allows for reading text from other applications such as your word processor and text from the Internet.
Features and options include choice of font, background color, and mode (center text or eye trainer scroll); number of words or lines per flash; delays (if certain punctuation or long words are found); speeds (word or character based); read timer/alarm; creation of your own preset option settings; and a drill editor, complete with a spelling checker. Online help is also available.
This version features a start-up wizard screen, the ability to import and export custom content, eye fixation games, smarter drills, new drill sets, and updated help.
Note: The unregistered version is limited to 30 days of use, has only 13 of the available 260 reading/comprehension tests, has a higher speed limitation, and contains a nag screen. Registration costs $49.95.
