Ace Utilities presents a suite of familiar PC-managing tools with a very small system-resource footprint.

Smaller than 2.25MB, the tools are all integrated into a clean, familiar, easy-to-use interface with options at the top and down the left gutter. Click on one option and it opens a new window; finish using it and it closes down to the main tool menu.

The Registry Cleaner lets you decide which invalid keys to delete and whether to exclude removable media and CDs from examination. To free up disk space, Disk Analysis displays which files and folders take up the most room. The Cleaning tools find empty folders and files, temporary and unnecessary files, broken shortcuts, and duplicate files, and then remove them--permanently if need be. Not only can the program handle browser tracks, but plug-ins add support for popular apps such as Acrobat, Kazaa, and ICQ.

These robust and customizable features--combined with the access Ace Utilities provides to a few hidden Windows settings, and the option of using it in the Beginner or Expert mode--make the download suitable for every level of user.

  "Highly configurable, but outdated and quite crummy."

  Pros: Highly configurable. A little effective.

  Cons: Quite a crummy interface. Outdated, too. It was added on CNet year 2003. That's so two years ago! Go get Ashampoo WinOptimizer 2 instead, it's better; more effective; has a gorgeous interface; has more features; easier to use; and MORE UPDATED!

  "DANGER!!!! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!"

  Pros: Hi albert here. Somehow I could not submit a review under my regular nick "albert". So, I registered under this name. I just want you to know that ace utilities has many useful features that will help you keep your system running smooth and efficient. See the publisher's description of the program. The one thing I like the most about this program is the fact that you can use it for free for as long as you want: in case you did not know, the 30 days trial period is misleading because it never ends. Isn't that ironic? or did they forget to turn the 30-day trial limitation period on? As far as I know this utility is completely free and unlimited, which makes it more valuable.

  Cons: Now in the title of this review I stated in capital letters the words "DANGER!!! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!, which I am repeating here. I think you should be careful about the eraser feature of ace utility. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE IT UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND DOUBLE CHECK WHAT IS BEING ERASED!!!! This utility crashed my pc about one and a half week ago. I had to reformat my whole drive, lost many important files, and spent lots of time and money putting everything back in order. read below another reviewer's comments about this. I also experienced the same problem where an important windows file was missing and my pc could not start anymore. Thus, be very careful with how you use the erase utility of Ace utilities. In fact, I do not recomend you use this feature at all. It is unsafe and dangerous!!!

  "Believe what i write here..."

  Pros: I have had this program for about six months using the 30 day trials. This is one of the best problems ive had on my cpu. Before you buy anything, try this one and I'm sure you will love it. I didnt use the registry part alot, but the Startup menu, history, etc is great.

  Cons: Cant really think of any cons, but like i said, i didnt use the registry part much.

  "Speeded up my boot up, BRILLIANT!!!"

  Summary: at first my PC took ages to boot up. Enter Ace Utilities, it cleaned Unnecessary files quickly and efficiently. it analysed the registry for errors etc. Plus checked all the files on my PC, informing me with very useful file statistics.
