Editors' review

Slick, sleek, and sassy, this Web browser performed very well during our tests. Ace Explorer installs quickly and opens automatically. A toolbar of icons keeps most features at your fingertips, including e-mail, Web page editing, font changes, zooming, and even browsing via proxy server. New Web pages open as tabs within the main page, not as separate windows. Not exactly a subtle slam at Internet Explorer, Ace Explorer is a reliable alternative to other mainstream browsers. With a built-in pop-up blocker, too, this just may be your next favorite Web browser.

"Follow up browser from the makers of Advanced browser-"

    April 29, 2011   |   By andreaborman

    Version: Ace Explorer 2

    Pros

It has a larger tool bar than Advanced browser but both browsers are good. Works well without any problems.

    Cons

You cannot change your homepage in this browser as there is no setting for this. So the only way to change the homepage is to do it in Advanced browser,Internet Explorer or another browser such as in Green or Avant browser.Ugly Icon.

    Summary

Ace Explorer is identical to Enigma browser. In fact they are exactly the same and even have the same icon. Ace Explorer is probably either an earlier or a later version of Enigma browser. And also a follow up to Advanced browser. But although Enigma browser and Ace Explorer are exactly the same and identical browsers, except for the name being different. You can install both Enigma browser and Ace Explorer side by side on the same computer along with Advanced browser. But there is no point as you will have 2 browsers exactly the same and you cannot change the homepage in Ace Explorer or Enigma browser. You have to do it in Internet Explorer or in another IE engine based browser like Avant browser,Green browser or Advanced browser. To get a different homepage in either Ace or Enigma. That is the main reason why I did not upgrade from Advanced browser to Ace Explorer or Enigma browser. Advanced browser is made by the same people who made this browser. But advanced browser is a better browser in my opinion. And you can change the homepage in Advance browser to anything you want to. Unlike in this browser-Ace Explorer and Enigma browser, where you cannot. So that is why I am not keeping this browser and I am staying with Advaned browser. Andrea Borman.

You cannot change the homepage at all in this browser which is not very helpful. And it also means that you have to use Internet Explorer or if you don't want to do that, install another browser like Avant browser to change the homepage.I have never had that problem in any other browser, except this one. So my advice is to stick with Advanced browser or Avant browser or Green browser. At least they DO let you change the home page! Andrea Borman.

    Updated on May 15, 2011

Well my biggest complaint about Ace Explorer is that you cannot change the home page directly without going into Internet Explorer or another IE based browser like Avant browser to do it from there. But there IS another option and that is to load start page of your choice. And here you could put in the web address(url) of the page you want Ace to open on start up. apart from this down side Ace Explorer is a very fast browser with a nice large tool bar. So I would not rule out this browser. In fact Ace Explorer is still on one of my 4 Netbooks and I am using it now to type this review update. an it is all right. Workins with Windows 7 too. Which is what I have.

    "Not good enough"

    February 11, 2010   |   By rub

    Version: Ace Explorer 2

    Pros

If you can tolerate single window operation, it's probably OK.

    Cons

When I navigate away, I expect to be able to return. It doesn't work that way, at least with my version of crappy Vista Home Premium. It doesn't allow multiple windows and only allows replacement windows. Like IE, it crashes.

    "Nice IE alternative browser"

    July 02, 2009   |   By thunderloader

    Version: Ace Explorer 2

    Pros

Frendly user interface, easy to figure out.

    Cons

Not a lot of customization options. Lacks the pwer of the BIG 5 browsers.

    Summary

A nice browser to use if you don't care about added IE seucrity and features. It operates on an IE look-alike priciple, making it very easy for IE users to figure out and appreciate. It's a nice little browser.

"This little browser actually does what it says."

    February 06, 2009   |   By ramphs

    Version: Ace Explorer 2

    Pros

Allows for tons of customization, secure AND surprizingly fast on program load, exit, and everything in between.

    Cons

Clumsy interface can seem cluttered. There are so many options, its hard to tell what does what and the help menu really doesnt contain anything useful.

    Summary

The interface can be a bit clumsy at times, but the browser does support a host of features I havent found in other browsers. You can create group site favorites, recalling all of them on open with a single click, it also seems to be built on top of IE, so you can expect fully functional integration with Citrix metaframe presentation clients as well as web-based VPN software, all of which I've had trouble with running under firefox. I also really havent had any security issues since installing this browser, even after testing it on some sites that are known to be notorious for spyware. Not bad at all in my opinion. Allows for lots of customization.

    "Applaud! Laudable."

    November 01, 2008   |   By Almightylord

    Version: Ace Explorer 2

    Pros

It is conspicuous that it is not a wisecrack.
The mastermind of it is sublimely intelligent to create the browser with
lofty celerity when browsing the web.

    Cons

It might not satiates some users for its fundamental skin.

    Summary

Indeed it has a decent pop-up blocker(typical of all divergent browsers),elegant buttons
    , *easy* scrolling,integral features,hardly rendered sickening crashes,with alacrity and finesse,with visceral satisfaction!!

    September 28, 2008   |   By Opa-Loka

    Version: Ace Explorer 2

    Pros

An improvement over IE, easy to work, and faster.

    Cons

I could only use it for ten minutes. What's up with that?

    Summary

It would be nice if this browser lasted more than te3nminutes..
