Publisher's description
From Joseph Flynn :AccuSplit is designed to rapidly and reliably split large files and computer videos into smaller segments allowing for easy archival to external media, such as DVD, CD-R, ZIP or floppy disks. The file segments can then be recombined at a later time into an exact copy of the original file. The application is capable of segmenting and correctly reconstructing any file, even large Windows backup files exceeding 70GB. AccuSplit also includes a special Video Smart Split mode that can split AVI, DV AVI, DivX, XviD, and MPEG-1 format files (including Video-CD) into independently playable segments without a lengthy video re-rendering process. Now, you can split your large video files into CD-sized segments and play them back directly from the CD--no file reconstruction is required. AccuSplit offers complete support for both Type1 and Type2 format DV AVI files (Digital Camcorder). Command Line support also allows AccuSplit to perform unattended operations within batch script files.
Version 4 includes the capability to create error-correcting RAID formatted file segments. In this mode the software creates file segments that are embedded with a very powerful RAID-style error correction mechanism that allows it to correct for data errors on damaged media.

Version: AccuSplit 4
"Great software, great price, great support"
Pros: My files are large (13GB) so I checked out those avi split vendors on CNet and only considered those that were 4 stars by editor and user. I emailed two of them with a few questions and they both responded. One could not handle my large files, but AccuSplit, I was told, could easily handle files that size. After a few more questions which were promptly answered I paid and downloaded it. I have 6 hours of dgitized 8mm movies taken over a period of 20+ years. I want to split them into scenes and then reassemble them into various themes and then burn a DVD for each theme. Accusplit does exactly what I want it to do. And when I was not sure of the next step in the process I sent an email and got a prompt response with the answer. It does not reassemble the scenes once they are split, Nero Vision Express does that just fine. I would not hesitate to highly recommend AccuSplit: great sortware, great price and great support!
Cons: Nothing

Cons: Won't work with mpeg2 format files ... will this feature be added in the future?

Version: AccuSplit 4
"It Works For Large Video Files"
Pros: I tried four programs for splitting large video files before (including RER) and none of them worked. The file would be split, but with a lot of content. I had to download the full version of Accusplit for $15 in order to split my files (they are really big), but I am definitely satisfied with the results. Much respect to Accusplit.
